The biggest problem I've faced in recent years, is UN-learning everything I was taught by the "officiandos" of porn in the early years. From their camera-angles, scenarios, sexual content and context etc, etc, has all had to be relegated to the dustbin..............'cause it's crap!

The appeal (as I've said so many times before) is in seeing the kind of sex that you would like to do but cannot get realistically.
Every producer is making the kind of porn that appeals to them or just parroting what they think the public wants.
No one can say the demand is there just on the basis of it selling. Where is your frame of reference? I've seen certain titles sell well past others I expected to see perform better in sales and it taught me one thing: The buying market is not really as predictable as you think.
My opinions are based on fact. Not conjecture and I for one would not ever suggest I hold all the answers when it comes to this business. We have one title that has no anal in it whatsoever and it is one of our best sellers in terms of volume and speed.
If we really knew what the formula for a best seller was then that formula would be milked to death and that is precisely wht we have here with the anal versus non anal issue.
Sure some may not like anal but many others do. the opinions of the few on this forum is not reflective of the buying mass at all.
I would say that good anal scenes are dependent on the quality of how it is filmed. As for how it will sell...well thats a different matter entirely

Do you think Sony, Paramount, Warner Bros, Universal make movies to amuse themselves? They have a pretty good idea of what the public wants and what sells and what doesn't sell. There are films that are box office hits and many others that sink.
Am I saying that porn producers and distributors in general are smarter than their Hollywood mainstream cousins? No.
Why is it that "all-sex" movies do better in the US than ones that are plot-driven? (in Europe plot-driven movies is pretty much 98% of what is being made). Why is it that the (US) trenchcoat crowd don't got for movies that contain condom scenes?

There are directors and producers that are pretty good at what they do (and this includeds anal scenes) (ex: Jules Jordan, Platinum-X, etc) and others that are less skilled. If you have been watching porn for some time, you have a pretty good idea what directors and labels to look for and to avoid.

They don't have time to sit down and do the kind of marketing analysis that mainstream Hollywood. They understand trends, and anal has been a hot trend since the early 1990's. The fact these scenes are still being shot, is that many viewers find them a turn on.
But then again there is still quite a bit of product with no anal scenes or perhaps just one anal scene in a movie. If you don't like it, just skip to the next scene.
