psychology of the male performer

Post by dave78 »

ok, i ask this because....well i work in psychology (ok so i'm on the road to being a shrink!). naturally, two of my interests are now coming together and i'm beginning to consider the question 'what makes a male performer?' ok so we know that cock size is a key issue but i guess i'm attending to psychological factors here. we see it all the time, some guys are exceptional- they can keep banging away all day long and nothing seems to phase them. on the other hand, some guys just get complete stage fright and never recover! so what are the crucial ingerdients, psychologically? what sets apart omar, pascal, marino, lee henshaw, steve cooper etc. from guys who really can't....well.....keep it up???

Priests get de-frocked, doctors and lawyers struck-off. Not sure what happens to psychologists, but as your two interests converge be careful they don't collide.

I don't know the answer to your Q. Perhaps these individuals are all practitioners of tantric sex, or maybe it's the powdered rhino horn.

A very interesting question and one that has intrigued me for some time. The more you look forward to a scene, the more likely you will fail. The stud who fails at an audition will be the one who can't wait to, "Get stuck in". Whereas the guy reading a book and sitting quietly, will succeed.
I think as males, we are programmed to want to "seduce" in some way. In porn this ritual doesn't take place, its a case of flopping ya dick out and getting on with it. Most guys can't get their head around this and I don't blame them. It can be very difficult unless you can put yourself in the correct frame of mind.

To be honest, being a stud, is a bit of a wierd thing to want to do in the first place!

But I suppose it has its perks. LOL

I'm convinced that almost all male performers are slightly bi-sexual. I have no doubt that there will be cries of derision at this suggestion, but I'm sure it's true.

Being filmed by a bloke would happily finish off wood for me. Doing a DP, being able to feel another blokes cock through a thin skin wall or my thighs touching his? The very thought send shivers down my spine. I'm very much the new man when it comes to homosexuality, playing gay with my best mates, being occasionally camp and giving a quick kiss if it will convince some girls to get off with each other!

But, being in close proximity to another guy naked and aroused? No way. I think you must have to, to a small degree, say 5-10 % fancy men. That way, being aroused in front of other men wouldn't be a big problem.

Thoughts?

Yeah I agree with you, I find DP's etc a bit wierd, although I think the producers are more likely to have bi leanings, with their obsession with only booking what they consider to be "Good looking" studs.
The studs themselves just do what they are told.

A question re your bi concerns:

I recently saw a clip of a scene in a Relish film. 2 girls on their backs legs in the air, being fucked by 2 studs. The camera position was between the girls heads looking up at the guys...........A bit odd perhaps?

I never got to see who the girls were. I concede that I only watched the clip for about 3 minutes, but all the same, the only camera position I can think of is between the guys looking at the girls. I personally don't want to see guys faces while they are fucking.

Totally with you. When I'm knocking one out, there is nothing worse than a quick shot of some bloke grimacing. Totally puts me off. I've noticed it's particularly bad in Peter North vids. Just the kind of thing to get you going, a massive spurting jizzload and just as he is about to blast it on some pretty girls face, and just as you are about to let rip yourself, the camera goes to Peter, eyes to heaven, grimacing away. I'm at the point of no return for fucks sake! I don't want to do some half hearted orgasm because I'm now staring at Peter fucking North! I want to see Angel and Ashley Long getting their faces covered! :sigh:

i'm glad that this has provoked some response, not least from mr jimslip himself. cheers for that! great to have your perspective! i find it baffling. from personal experience, the more you hype up something sexual the more likely it is to be a flop! (pun very much intended!). alternatively, it must be really hard to just put the performance out of your mind and then spring into action when it is required. it is with this in mind that i am convinced there must be some sort of common psychology among 'successful' studs. they just seem to get on with it (as jim says) and, physiologically, things go according to plan for them! now.....i don't wanna prompt any accusations that i may be bi-sexual here (i'm pretty sure i'm not) but when i see guys like pascal in action they are just like incredible fucking machines in the sense that nothing seems to phase them!!! i'm sure this goes beyond simple machismo (e.g. "if you're a real man you'll keep it and fuck her brains out!"), after all, anybody could tell themselves this but it won't necessarily pan out this way. hmmmm....maybe i'm speaking from experience! would be great to hear other views!

I've been shagged by most of the guys in the business, and in my humble opinion the key to their success in being able to get "Wood" is down to the majority of them being able to look on the whole process as something that will give them pleasure. In real sex, it's a two way thing, pleasure is shared. In 99% of porn it's a one way street, the pleasure is for the man only, hence the concentration on the money shot. For most men, thank God, they will be trying to please their partner, this thought process is a hinderance to the male porn performer. If you're the kind of guy who is happy to just bang away for your own satisfaction, you might just make it in the porn game.

Ummmm

What makes a good male performer.

The ability to network girls and a willingness to...

1) Take Viagra
2) Take Cilias
3) Use Caverject
4) Smoke an industrial strength and mood altering cigarette before shooting

Or if they are not willing to do any of the above....

1) Be on the slightly dumb side with a big ego.
2) Be slightly on the gay side with a big ego.

At least that's how it worked in Los Angeles
But on that note...

Perhaps I should keep my mouth shut. Because I have a funny feeling people in the UK are going to hate me for my bluntness.
