I'll stick to xxx by satellite; regardless of the law I wouldn;t purchase any porn ever. I don't mind paying subscription to Euro packages as the are around ?90 a year for 4/5 24 hour channels. I wouldn't pay for individual films regardless of how cheap or readily available they were as. I'm not too fussy about whether it's US/Euro or whatever porn and I like flicking from channel to channel and rarely watch any full movie.

I have to disagree with Phil mCc. R18 will be permitted by Ofcom as they have no choice but to allow it! Ofcom can not legally have proscription orders issued against Euro Sex channels that transmit R18 strength, as DCMS can not take action as the material is perfectly legal to purchase and own in the UK. The DCMS would get laughed out of the European Court.

Also the Video Recordings Act (VRA) does not restrict the sale of R18 to just Sex shops, this is just the BBFC interpretation of the law. That's why you can legally import R18 type material into the country!

Cage mate your are a mile wrong, OFCOM fined Playboy last month, I have held a RSL to broadcast terestrial TV. If they so choose they can take your channel away remove your transmiters, the end. getting rid of DVD will please everyone not just me, why wait six months on a movie release, why allow pirates to steal, why can we get movies the same time as in America. IPTV will be the answer, TDG reserch calculates that 20million subscribers to IPTV by 2010 and I would say thats reserved. 2000 CHANNELS....and no TV license required if you follow our guides, Our set-top box is already working in Japan and Vancouver but it has taken a bit longer than expected to make it work on british phone lines, Broadband will go mad this year with 8/15/30 meg lines coming in, we have seen the 100meg card work and the contension ratios droping to 10-1 using piggy back boards. You can put your shirt on this being the delivery method I have and I know some really big players who have as well.

Meaning in the physical sense of having the dvd in your hand and having to put it in a dvd player. I like someone wlse to do that and give me a surprise as to what's coming next .... less buttons to press :) Plus for ?90 a year you get about 12 new movies a day and no repeats on SexView package. Porn is a watch once and move on thing for me - why would I want to own the product !

cage said: As long as there are no complaints, the chances are the authorities will turn a blind eye.

Dream on.Dream on. As long as the likes of Mediawatch exist there WILL be complaints and Ofcom WILL enforce whatever code they have decided on. As I said dream on dream on.......

If Ofcom don't permit R18 and the broadcasters don't make a court case of it then R18 is never likely to happen on UK TV.

VOD type services may be the only way. Until that is they have found a way to regulate that too......As difficult as that may be don't be so sure that religious nutters will get VOD regulated in some form or another......

My instinctive conclusion is that R18 on TV is a dream that will not happen any time soon...regardless of what common sense would otherwise indicate.

When it comes to regulation and the regulation mind set then common sense will always be well and truly out of the window.....Dream on. Dream on.....
