Looking around some of the older posts, I noticed the recurring topic of ?why are UK adult movies so poor? or words to that effect, which caught my interest and prompted me to add my own opinion to the debate.

I agree that our own movies do sometimes have the tendency to look like a particularly saucy episode of Crossroads, but lets be honest who really expects to see a ?Million Dollar Baby? or an ?Aviator?? I know I don?t. It?s impossible to expect such production values as mainstream movies or even that of American cousins. We are after all a small country with a small yet emerging adult industry.

However, I don?t think this detracts from our own films; sure they may not be as expensively produced as some of the US adult movies, but these can often end up over produced, looking flashy and superficial. In our own little community I think the work offers a much more honest and earthy quality, which in my opinion makes each scene all the more realistic and sexy.

After all, are adult movies not to titillate our imaginations and sexuality and not conjure up impossible scenarios with even more improbable plots? The honesty of the British industry and its actors/actresses are what sets it apart and has well-established producers, such as Rocco, falling over themselves to work with us.

Well its only my opinion and I?m new here so what do I know!

I have seen some of the big budget films that some studios have done, both in US and Europe and I did not find them particularly good. There was to much emphasis on making the film look good, shots of the sets, wasting to much time on the storyline, using arty different methods like, slow motion shots and in a few cases using silly special effects that really add nothing to the film, which of course people are buying to see people having sex primarily.

All foreign producers are always looking to work with our female talent and always have been. But the rest of us, well apart from a few of us who have worked for Private or Hustler there is no such luck.

You can throw all the money and production values into producing a film and still end up with a limp knob of an excuse for a movie. Sometimes keeping it real can be difficult because some people don't shag very dynamically in their personal life. On the whole, this shit ain't easy and requires more people skills than just paying people off to get them to do what you want them to. As I used to say to hagglers for cash, if you can't fuck for a few hundred pounds what makes you think you're worth a few thousand?
