"Forget your plots, build up is all thats needed IMHO"

Which is what I meant by 'setting the scene'.

"and as for acting, why bother unless the performers in question can actually act"

Why bother indeed? But maybe implicit in a lot I come out with is that maybe producers should be looking for quality people who can act and simply not using those who impart a negative, downmarket, gutter feel, to the proceedings. I know this trailer trash, dirty ho, slut thing, is a trend that the yanks are actively pursuing (and thus fuelling the fire) but why should we follow - except maybe that we aren?t technically and artistically capable of anything else? Maybe we are a nation of Dave the Dixon's camcorder men and the dirty, downmarket ho, thing is perfect material for the filmmaker who is impoverished of talent, imagination and dough?

"if they can't PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE EDIT!!!!"

Yeah, y' can edit the whole firkin lot for me, dude.

"The Eastern Euros even with their lack of English have proven you can still make an arousing scene using just simple body language"

Which brings us back to the intrinsic quality of continental birds (acknowledged by almost every producer I personally know) as opposed to what we have to work with here.

Still its unfair to judge a fledgling industry as the British against the entrenched European Adult Scene, everything is stacked in its favor unlike the british which is shovelling shit up hill with a toothpick

One can only hope this Barely Legal Trailer Trash genre dies a sad death

Until the British Culture changes to anything resembling the European Liberalism I expect we'll just have to be happy with field trips via the Tardis for pre-1994/95

Then again some of us just need to pop out back and inspect the VA inventory when things are looking shite

cheers

"Most bad porn comes from local porn produced by local people for a local audience"

And I guess that is compounded when the locals have a naff, no respect, no standards, no class, tabloid culture.

"It's just too much of the same sort of stuff and I don't think it's easy for people on the inside to see it sometimes."

Too true. In fact it may be the case that they don't want to see it. I do get a feeling that when discussing these uncomfortable home truths with a few colleagues and associates of mine that they are metaphorically putting their hands over their ears and whistling a cheery tune.

"And as for the Barely Legal market leaders, look at http://www.clubseventeen.com/index-int.html I think they're going for the 'If you look older than 15 you can't be in our video' type of girl, I can't see this trend dying soon as the likes of 17 have been at it fore"

The surprising thing is that being close to some retail operations since the early 90's I can see quite clearly what most dudes are looking for in their porn stars, and it sure as shit ain't teenies - quite the opposite in fact. Of course teenies have their following, but most of the consumers who I know of seem to lean towards mature and older women. If punters are going to stand for younger sorts then they have to be extremely glamoures and classy - like yer Silvia Saints (Euro version). So I don't know who these teeny trash producers are making these videos for, cause their supposed audience has never crosses my retail path. Of course it could be a case of people simply taking what is given to them - a social phenomenon which I've become aware of. Most Brit people are apathetic; they don't feel passionately about anything, they've never pondered about who they are, why they are here, what they like and why that might be. They kinda just drift through life on auto-pilot doing as they are told by governments and companies who want to unload onto them whatever crap products they have on the shelves at that time. Occasionally, like in 'The Matrix' one or two of them spontaneously come out of this daze, and after looking round at this new world in bewilderment, look at what they are being offered, and exclaim - 'Hold on a minute. This is shit!'

Here we go again, (rolls eyes up skyward) we've descended into slagging off Brit porn. It's not as if we havent had this all in another thread. It goes to show how popular this becomes when you put a post up for Brits to slag themselves or its own stuff off.

This thread started off as a gripe on my part that has gone amiss for so long that I feel had to be said. I know you can't have one symptomatic of the other but its all been said before and if you think Brit porn is boring, ranting on about what has been said already is getting just as boring.

Officer Dibble, I always enjoy reading your posts and see a lot of truths in it and while I refuse to throw my arms up and resign myself to the shortfalls in this business I'll be forever that optimistic guy who will fight at all odds to try and make that change...unless I have a career change, but its going to take a concerted effort on a lot more people than myself to bring about that change. The only reason people are harping on about badly produced naff product is because there is far too much of the same stuff being produced that people don't know which way is up and too spoiled for choice. Back in the day when it was just Ben Dover and Remington Steele representing hardcore it seems people, such as yourselves were more happier because at the time there was nothing else to compare it too and it would be unfair to put it up against the deluge of foreign produced stuff.

Those days are gone and with the advent of the handycam a lot more people are trying their hand at it. This was inevitable. Contrary to what you might think, a lot of those poeple haven't watched much porn other than the cursory dodgy quality copy that frequently change hands amongst their mates, therefore they don't realise what they are producing is bad because they havent done the necessary research to find out what is good or bad...Making that movie with the missus is their own personal masterpiece. Their digital triumph.

I fail to empathise with those who do know what bad porn is but sit in the shadows and do nothing about it but moan. Officer Dibble, I love ya, but you are part of this category. You should apply your high powered perception into producing something that could make this country proud.
You could recruit the girls. Not every girl in Britain is chavvy. Failing that, get over to Europe where they do have class acts. There is still great porn being produced. Where!? Without mentioning the obvious (Ben Dover, Relish et al) theres UK Student House, Me (Yes me, excuse me while I suck my own dick) You know what I base my opinions on and why I dont take shit from anyone, because I am the first critic of any of my work that takes place on the day until it goes out the door to the market. I am with my stuff every step off the way and all the while I'm thinking: Would I buy this? I am open to constructive criticism because there are things that are outside my control when producing videos. Hell, I'm probably one of the most paranoid producers out here and the moment I get a sniff something isn't going to be favourable, I'm out the front door. Probably explains why I've explored setting up my own distribution arm (more later). In short ( I hear you laughing) I believe I am one of those guys trying to make a difference, I'm out there doing it but all I hear are naysayers not giving any support. Is this typical British behaviour as my good friend Phil describes as "The East Enders "mentality where no wants to see you succeed.

Y'all can run your mouths off about what is bad, but what are you doing about it!? For the most part, all you can do is boycott something if you don't like it but the thing is, somebodies buying it. No one admits to buying Max Hardcores stuff but that guy is clearly a huge player doing what he does. In short, maybe everyone should take time out to watch more porn and decide what is really good from bad but then at the end of it, will it make any difference as everyone would feel they were gods gift to the porn masses anyway....and so it goes...on and on. The battle continues....
