Whose to blame for British porn being the worst? Well, thats easy innit. Moany minnies who bleat about it and have nothing positive to contribute would be my first answer, then there are so many other things to consider one would suggest, why bother.
I know this thread is about a week old but I just couldnt resist getting me dukes up for this one.
I think theres too much of a good thing and all of you are just plain spoiled. Think about it, never has porn been so abundant, so accessible, so varied. Oooh JP fresh easterly breeze coming in! Yes, thats right, if no one bought it then the porn biz would come to a grinding halt but since thats not going to happen, the few moaning minnies who get on her ranting and raving about how awful Brit porn is aint going to change one iota cos there are more people buying it than not, so either way you look at it, for better or worse, the punter is to blame. Then we could be even more cynical about it and say the government is to blame for allowing it to be legal but then why stop there, the punter is also responsible for the success of the internet (as is porn). Sorry Terry but I'm not having that the UK punter is to blame for the state that UK porn is in.
Ben Dover has already claimed on this forum that UK produers don't care about the UK average punters likes/dislikes and will film movies that they are happy with. Countless posts on this forum will state that the more informed cunsumer is far from happy at what is being produced.
It was a Yank who had to come over and film the best that the UK had to offer more than 10 years ago in John Stagliano and who set the standard, since American Buttman in London and European Vacation 2 and British Boobies there hasn't been a UK movie that has come close to the standard of actresses used and eroticism of those 3 movies.
As a final word, people will buy shit if all that is on offer is shit, all I'm asking for is for someone within the business to do something different.

I'm afraid Terry's got a point here. I've long been dismayed at the subterranean quality thresholds displayed by UK consumers of all types, not just porno. They would rather pay 50 pence for a shit sandwich, as shell out an extra 25 pence for a bacon sandwich. 'Never overestimate the taste of the British consumer' is the philosophy that has made many fat cat (some of 'em porno fat cats) rich beyond their wildest dreams. True. Problem is many have never seriously involved themselves in retail, and if they don't do that they can't directly see what are the aspects of porn that flick consumers switches - or not. The producers I know are simply gung ho about filming, period. They will film anything and anyone if the protagonists are naked and involved in some sexual or pseudo-sexual activity. They seem so consumed with the need to film that they never stop to question whether what they are shooting would be considered aesthetically pleasing or erotic by Joe Average.
