Are these pictures magazine quality?

Not sure what you're asking. If you want to know do they have sufficient editorial, aesthetic or pornographic merit, ask a magazine. If, as I suspect, you mean are they sufficient quality to make good repro: it's not really possible to say from small screen jpegs. But even from them you could get an image. It's not for nothing that photographers are known as smudgers. You'ld need to show the original files to the magazine, and then you're dealing half with there level of technical knowlege and working practise and half with their desire to use the images. If they really want to use any image they can, whatever it's quality.

Yes, but the result of using a low res image would be a tiny, tiny print with lots of noise and artificing and a sacked editor.

It's not just what the editor knows, it's a combination of other things:

resolution of camera (ideally, a minimum of 13.7 Megapixels)
RGB setting of camera
was camera white balanced and then model shot holding a colour chart for base settings?
do the repro house have one of four different software packages capable of converting *properly* from RGB to CMYK...

Trust me, I know this subject...
