Hypocrites

Post by Phil_h001 »

Over the past few weeks, I've read a lot of stuff on this board following the latest HIV cases in the States. My thoughts go out to the people infected and their families.

Having just read Dan's thread on 'Party Girls' and the attack on Faye (one of the nicest people I've met) as well as the other snide remarks, I've had enough of the hyprocracy and the sheer number of hypocrites around.

Over the past few years, I've met a number of models who have been hosting parties, filming parties, working as escorts and other things. I've met a number of producers and website owners who organised parties for content shoot as well as acting as "agents" for more private 1-2-1's.

These people were very happy to take the money or use the attendees for content of websites;reselling the videos and films around the world.

At no point did any of these models, film makers, producers, website owners or agents ask to see certificates or medicals but basically said "have a wash and get stuck in".

During all this time, HIV never went away and the risks remained the same. HIV continued to infect and kill people whilst STD's meant people had to get treatment and generally be careful. People doing parties two years ago have as much chance of contracting HIV then as they do now

I always used a condom for all parties and photoshoots for full penetration and ensured I followed preventive suggestions from the likes of The Terence Higgins Trust, Crusaid and other Aids charities to ensure my fun didn't get me infected.

If people are so concerned about limited the spread of HIV, why wasn't this all discussed three years ago and appropriate controls put in place?

And Phil, we are now all hypocrites because we actually want to change things and improve safety? Parties aren't the root of all evil, they are just inappropriate in a professional industry.

For one I wasn't shouting about it 3 years ago because I wasn't in the porn part of the industry then...the guys who were have been shouting about it for years, only now is anyone listening but there will still be many people for who nothing will change no doubt!

Dan,

Not everyone who's commented on the HIV threads are hypocrites but a number of them are.

Those people who have been trying to educate and advocate a safer industry should be praised.

Those who say one thing whilst doing another should be careful as they might find themselves actually harming any change rather than helping it.

I certainly couldn't agree with that more...if you talk the talk, then walk the walk.

Phil, people are not hypocrites just because their past actions haven't always reflected their current beliefs...only if when their beliefs change, their actions don't. A lot of people over the past few weeks have been seeing things differently and changed their thoughts, beliefs and actions accordingly...they are not hypocrites although I agree there are still plenty who are. If anyone feels that I am one of those people then so be it but my actions over the past few weeks have been very different.

Really as much as it sounds that way I am not attacking Faye, you are right, she is one of the nicest girls in the industry, or for that matter anywhere. But like it or not, for the industry to change, including it's beliefs attitudes and guidelines we need to start at the top and hope that professional attitude filters to all concerned...and Faye is most definitely at the top!

This is nothing new it has been a topic raising mega debate on BGAFD forums for well over a year now.

I agree there is a certain amount of hypocracy..but that is far outweighed by the amount of commom sense.

No matter what Dan Dares says he has publicly witch-hunted a respected member of the business and hounded her out of something she was happy to do. Read the thread again and you will see she says she is giving up because of all the flak.

I don?t mind someone giving up for good reasons or bad. Shaz has left the business and she will tell you that I never tried to talk her out of it because I knew it was her own decision and she?s a grown-up. But this bullyihg of Faye makes me sick frankly. Whether she?s right or wrong her decision was not respected. For her persecutors then to congratulate her is particularly repulsive.

A campaign like this about HIV is always likely to flush out the self-righteous bullies among us. Let?s not be afraid to slap them down before they give all the sincere and worried but civilised people a bad name.
