What is serious matter which could effect us all industry people in some way is going to get drawn into a you can get HIV from a toilet seat. Anyone needs me or anyone wants to find out what professionals are doing mail us direct. I hosted the meeting in question.

My hat off to you Phil for hosting an important meeting for people in the industry as there health is more important but is our health departments able to take on the work load?

You make an interesting point about "record keeping".

I think that over in the US, much of the responsibility for this is done by the healthcare outfit AIM... they do the contacting.

Obviously - it is imperative that as performers WE either already keep records of who we worked with and when - and if we dont do that already - WE START DOING SO...

But the contacting bit - that is where an organisation like AIM comes into it's own... Heaven forbid it happening here - but if a health scare were to materialise - put yourself in that persons position... it's gonna take a mighty lot of bottle to contact each person on your "at risk" list...

A network like AIM does that on your behalf... You tell them who you worked with - they do the contacting...

And let's be honest - making contact has got to be done in a tactful manner with some offer of support on the other end of the line.

I've just emailed 2 or 3 people who have had active involvement on this subject - I have been at Indigo today... I myself have had difficulty getting an appointment - I had to wait 6 weeks in the end - some of that was because a couple of the Thursdays were inconvenient for me - but, Emma, you are right... there is already a difficulty towards getting an Indigo appointment - what will the situation be from May 1st?

Indigo IS AN OUTSTANDING SERVICE - a service that the industry should heap praise upon. Half the problem could perhaps be solved if ALL the clinics used by the industry were brought under a single administrative database/umbrella - but red tape as it is in this country... well...

I am meeting with a UK wide medical company on Monday to discuss and setting up PCR - DNA tests for the UK adult industry at a special rate to performers. I will let everybody know what happens. If all works out we will have a central center for performers to use with the back up of the new to be launched www.baiha.org which will be launched soon.

Seriously? You must have lived a surprisingly sheltered life. As a student 15 years ago I ended up sharing a halls of residence flat with (amongst others) an HIV+ bloke - he was afimrably open about it (he was an overseas student from Kenya where it was endemic even then). My current local is a spit-and-sawdust real ale pub on the South Coast and three of the regulars there are HIV+ and again totally open about it.

I have only ever worked in office jobs, never hung around or even kmnowingly known intravenous drug users, rent boys/prostitutes or any of the other statistical "high risk groups", yet I have known and been mates with a dozen or so HIV+ folk in my time. It is astonishing to an ordinary joe like me that someone like you who works quite prolifically in the porn industry doesn't know anyone with the virus. Or maybe the people you know that do have it just keep schtum about it (it's their livelihood, after all). Maybe, just maybe, that brush-it-under-the-carpet mentality, rather than the duration of a testing window, is the real issue here.

As some1 who is currently unemployed & wanting to get into the industry, i have not started in the Industry yet There is only 1 local clinic, in the whole county here, who will do a test, its difficult to get to see them, then i find out, that from September last year onwards, they will do the test, but WILL NO LONGER provide any documents. You can see the official result from the clinic of your result, but they will NOT provide you with a copy, even if you offer to pay for the certificate.

for those of u that are finding it difficult to find clinics, book appointments or get certificates we will soon have a list of GU clinics nationwide that will offer u a test and certificate available on the BAIHA website.

if u want mail me now and i can locate ur nearest clinic.

a helpful tip i found when speaking to all these clinics is that many dont understand the term certificate, so just ask for a letter or copy of the lab report if u are met with blank faces. this is sufficient for work purposes.
also encouragingly, of all the clinics i have managed to contact so far, 75% will do certificates/letters or reports - some free some for a small fee.

as talent and after speaking to most of the top male and female talent in the industry i know everyomne wants to work condom till thi is sorted so whatever is decided by anyone else wont matter to the talent i propose a meeting of talent on wednesday evening or tuesday day and all agree to use condoms till evryone has had two dna tests to make sure all is fine
