I'm with you, Phil. R18 does everything I want - 20 years of buying pirate tapes - and now we have a great array of fully legal hardcore vids available - and Soho prices are less than many in Germany etc.

To be honest, I didn't think I'd see the day. Now, folks, let's make sure no-one tries to turn back the clock!

Don't get me wrong here, I am not saying everything should be made legal, that would be plain stupid, I personally think Max Hardcore is a deeply disturbed man and I know for a fact that never has and never will sell his stuff.

I feel the BBFC is restricting trade, an adult sex shop in Britain is only allowed to sell R18 movies. The owner of the rights to that movie in R18 form has a monopoly. This surely is not right. The shop owner if allowed could source the identical product from Europe of America at a fraction of the price, and as a result pass it on to the consumer at a better price enabling the consumer to buy more movies for his money getting more films watched and getting more pornstars better known. Monopolies are a bad thing, competitive markets a good thing. This is being unfairly restricted in Britain.

There should be guidelines to what is permissible and what is not in films, and filmmakers breaking the law should be heavily punished, I simply feel what is in place at the moment is not a good or fair system and it needs an overhaul.

even that is patently rubbish - If I can legally own max hardcore films and lots of other stuff but this stuff can't be passed by the bbfc then it's bollocks.

Screw that, I won't be happy until I switch BBC1 on at 6:30pm to watch the live Sunday gangbang ;-)

Hi Zorro

What do you mean by your comment : an adult sex shop in Britain is only allowed to sell R18 movies. The owner of the rights to that movie in R18 form has a monopoly. This surely is not right. The shop owner if allowed could source the identical product from Europe of America at a fraction of the price.

Why should the person making the film not have rights to make a profit in R18 sales, for years everybody as pirated my films so certificating my films
R18 means i earn some money for once. Of course i want a monopoly on my own films as i feel i've earned it.
If shop owners were allowed to buy from abroad it would mean the end for lots of British film companies the same as satilitte would mean the end of adult shops.

Buy British !

Zorro mate appart from you plug for your shop the argument you are giving is totally stupid, The shops can buy from the producers at ?3.00 but they sell at ?25 if they buy from Europe at ?2 or less all that will happen is the punters pay 25 quid for forein rubbish in nice boxes, the monopoly is held by the goverment who only allow 18R's to be sold in a licensed shop. If they done away with the R it would be sensible, as who the fik becomes 18R . You buy a bottle of Vodka from a off license you need to be 18 if he sells one to little jonny at 16 he gets procecuted and little Jonny gets pissed.
I have spent years in this industry, the law (goverment) is an ass not the BBFC they are half sensible, If you want to know how to fix your telly ask an engineer dont stick a screwdriver in it,

All we need, and this is very simple,,,is Soft covers and get rid of the R you are either 18 or you are not. If a newsagent sells an 18 to anyone under the age he should get done good and proper. Simple as that you can buy it anywhere you buy a video right now, you could rent thus making it a real Industry. Kim is right why should she bother spending a couple of K on a few licenses when you have the idea to import cheap cheap cheap...this word is what has ruined pornograpy in genera

Just to say, don't forget the (passive) contribution of the Government.

As the Australian Government is trying to do, what we have now could be reversed overnight.

Never mind "why should the BBfc stop us watching scat", after the next General Election here, even R18 could be outlawed completely and we could all be back to buying pirate tapes.

Everything is political - no-one know is going to shout from the rooftops about what we have today, but, make no mistake, Ann Widdecombe and her sort will turn the clock back if they can.

It's up to all of us to make sure this doesn't happen. No-one else will do it.

Don't anyone say they weren't warned.

Kim, you seem to have misunderstood me, in no way do I believe that British Sex shops should buy pirated goods and sell them cheaper.

Lets take Service Animals #15 from Evil Empire, I believe a British sex shop should be allowed to buy a legitimate copy of that film from Evil Empire in America, or one of their wholesalers in Europe. At the moment they can only get the R18 version from whoever has brought the rights. Restricting their ability to price competitively, as a result they will lose out to the cheaper internet sites (especially the American ones) and eventually go bust, which is not something any of us want.

so who decides what we can watch then, Skeeter & Max, I hope not things work ok right now appart from a few guys who like the odd pissing (female ejaculation) everyone is happy. Except the companies who don't want to invest in the UK. Seems simple send their movie to BBFC, get it 18R and distribute it. The only problem they might face is the shops are virtulay owned by 4 groups non of who will welcome them in.
In any case thats what rights deals are all about, why do you think Sony and Warner etc have regioned DVD's. Why should we be any different from the main stream film industry.
If the BBFC stopped tommorow and you could buy Max anywhere cause there was no law I would move, cause the market would be over. And as for Piracy well if there was no law everyone would just pirate with no rights holder in the UK to watch out for it who would know where it came from.
I cannot se a single person who would gain anything from your theory but a whole load of grief for everyone when they start prosecuting because some of the American stuff is obscene and offensive, so this sex shop you think should be able to buy any American or South American or Japanese product will end up behind bars, its that simple.

And if this system you think is great is so good how come blissbox who don't need to pay BBFC charges ?5 more than tottyshop who 18R their stuff. And Tottyshop produce most of their own stuff. If you are interested in the punter so much why not tell him he can buy the same title on totty for ?5 less
