Osborne announced on Monday that he is giving up nearly all his current jobs to become a partner at the investment bank Robey Warshaw. The former Conservative MP is currently editor-in-chief of the Evening Standard and the chair of the Northern Powerhouse Partnership. He is also paid ?650,000 a year for working one day a week as an adviser to the fund manager Black Rock.

It is unclear how much Osborne will be paid at Robey Warshaw, which has advised on some of the largest UK takeovers since it launched in 2013. However, filings at Companies House show that the highest paid partner at Robey Warshaw collected ?10m in 2020 and ?27.8m in 2019.

Can you blame him. no one gives up their seat on the gravy train.

When he left politics, he had a fantastic address book and his mobile must have had most of the people of influence in the world on it.

Banks like Robey Warshaw make fees for providing a service to corporates, and they value themselves highly. The clients always have the choice of going elsewhere or doing it themselves, which most are incapable of doing. Osborne will earn his pay so no complaints.

My complaint however is tracing the money paid by clients all the way back to its source, we find that the investment companies paying these fees manage the pension of millions of low paid workers, so Debbie from Dagenham and Brian from Blackburn who earn less than ?20K are contributing to the fees one way or the other.

This is why we need a reset on things like fees and commissions, low paid individuals need the maximum bang for their buck and high fee transactions are little better than vanity projects most of the time.

Don't blame Osborne he is doing what millions of us would do given the chance, blame the industry which creates these transactions

I fully agree, however this bank is new to the sector and is set up solely to capitalise and exploit on the market.

Though can it be right for the returns to the individuals and no doubt to achieve a low tax returns . Lets not forget just how money is washing around when they are at work .
