The comparisons between shooting in the US and the UK and Europe makes for an interesting podcast with a US producer who was shooting here before Christmas

An interesting podcast. Especially learning back in the ?60 a VHS day, a certain producer used to copy other people's content and sell it to make his money back so he got to see free content.
And here I am thinking people wanting to watch porn for free was a new thing. !shocked!

You'll be surprised how many people did that because hard core porn was illegal and wasn't freely available as it is today

There are examples of hostile take overs made good.

YouPorn being one of them. The point is, most of those pirates (or those that facilitated and benefitted from user generated piracy) went onto being an important cog in the big wheel of business by investing in talent and producing content.

JT the founder of YouPorn says it best

So who benefited the most from youporn hostile takeover? manwin/mindgeek, JT slipped or all the other producers in the industry who had their content stolen?one eyed jack wrote:

Doesn't matter if one person or lots of people were doing it. Stealing is still stealing!

Manwin aka Mindgeek own YouPorn and prior to that YouPorn did but where they turned around was by becoming affiliates to the sites to quote JT: "The business couldnt sustain itself the way it was going unless it gave something back to the producers"

This was not unlike a lot of terrible percentages offered around that time with 75/25 % deals in favour of the tube sites which was totally unworkable and opened up the market for Adult Work to offer better percentages.

The rest is history

I know people who shoot for sites that work with Mindgeek and all are very happy working for them. So i went from facilitating content that destroyed the old business but created the business as we know it fo today.

Or lack thereof depending on how you look at it

Yes it is.

But if you stop to atone for it by becoming part of the business employing the people that work in it.

Thats should account for something if you've put more back in the kitty than you stole from it.

Its amusing to read that phrase here when there are countless posts on this same forum justifying piracy of porn with all kinds of excuses. DVDs are too expensive, expecting it as part of your monthly broadband subscription etc when they're watching it for free on tube sites

Are you saying you dont do any of those things when you say stealing is still stealing?

Have I ripped off producers and made pirate copies? No, I haven't.
Have I tried to justify doing so? No, I haven't
Have I facilitated and benefited from user generated piracy? No, I haven't.
Have I moaned about people nowadays expecting content for free in a podcast? No, I haven't.

Have you ever done anything naughty? If not then you are a rare person indeed.

"Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone"

Looks like you got four there. Well done
