I keep saying how pointless this is given that people dont go to pay sites to see porn when all they have todo is go to a tube site or search google and put in the word "porn"

Regulating sites is a waste of time unless they can regulate everything else in the world that facilitates free porn

ATVOD is just a cash cow trying to earn money from sites by thinking it is doing the right thing when in effect it is doing NOTHING at all except try to put you out of business by restricting how you do your business.

Ive heard of some people doing alright by it but then I dont even know what sites have signed up

Perhaps Chris Ratcliffe of TVX would like to comment on the merits of joining since he was an active member of ATVOD

Johnson and his fatuous organisation rely on the general public being ignorant of where most porn is these days. He has a simple agenda: to censor the internet and put the UK behind a firewall that would delight China, Iran and Saudi Arabia.

First mentioned here in this video from last Septembers XBiz Convention in Lonon

In February the banks refused to comply preferring not to act like a censor. Pete Johnson obviously decided to push further by making it law.

Ultimately this is not about porn or the protection of kids Its all about control, censorship and making money out of those who sign up PLAIN AND SIMPLE

What proof do I have of this?

What more proof do you need knowing that the free sites are left off the table and free porn continues to eist on web browsers search engines.

My question is: Whats the point if it doesnt do nothing but ruin what business is left for legitimate producers who are regulated by billing companies and net parental controls already

Weirdly enough I think so. Such is the confusion of defining what is "TV like".

Hopefully this podcast from an adult industry trade meeting with Pete Johnson might help

As 1eyed says, if they regulated the internet 'no free porn unless age verification' this would be all worth it, at present though, this just is another push to reduce producers income & gain financially from British producers. I can't wait until a month when my residency is in Spain, once again, we shall be able to promote our paysites as we wish. I'll probably keep our previews softcore, just to stay morally correct.

I think the industry received a more balanced representation in mainstream media on the ATVOD issue over the last couple of weeks with Jerry and his sex and censorship campaign appearing on BBC, ITV and Sky news segments in prime time slots.

The article I wrote for Sex and Censorship's blog was also heavily quoted online by the likes of The Telegraph and Business Insider.

I think it's a result of Jerry's campaigning efforts that have brought this issue to the mainstream news outlets and I think as a result there is some pressure to cover the views of the industry.

If you look back to when ATVOD was first established and over their four year history - I don't think they've received this much publicity or exposure either.

It could be the first step to demonstrating the lack of value to the people of Great Britain and educate them as to what ATVOD really is.

I was having a look through their notified services directory - even I was surprised by the broad range of companies and sectors they have forced in to notifying - Sainsburys being among them.

'...I don't think they've received this much publicity or exposure either...'

I doubt if one person in 20 in this country realises that you have to pay a fee to a what is really a private company for permission to put video on your web-site, whatever the content.

I agree with My Beautiful Tease and yes Andy...A lot of people still have blank expressions when ATVODs name is mentioned and what they do.

Well done to Jerry and Sex & censorship for speaking when most of the adult business has buried its head in the sand.

Silence never did anyone any good
