It will be interesting to see in the weeks to come which sites get blocked. And not just the porn sites of course. The lack of transparency, and the arbitrary nature of fatuous filtering like this will have obvious consequences. You can bet there'll be a lot of 'Of course we didn't mean to block that one', and 'Clearly that was a mistake', and 'It was never our intention to prevent access'.

And all thanks to Cameron and Claire Perry. I'm sure the young people of Britain will be protected.....for about the 5 minutes it will take them to circumvent the bloody thing.

Do post any sites you may find blocked.

I haven't checked personally but it was reported on Twitter last night that these 3 websites have been caught up in the filters and have been blocked.

1. Mens clothing retailer "Topman".
2. The "Samaritans".
3. Would you believe.............."Childline".

What a balls up and within just a few days.

I bet you wont find iamjulianassange.com or bradleymanning.com

Did you know you need to obtain a license to demonstrate outside 10 Downing Street?

By being licensed I bet there are terms and conditions to those licenses.

Kinda takes the spirit out of it all dont you think?

I think you will find there is a ban on unauthorised demonstrations within 1km of the Palace of Westminster. It was one of the measures brought in by that staunch defender of civil liberties, Blair, as part of the fatuous 'war on terror'. You may recall the nonsense that followed, such as:

and the woman arrested for reading out the names of British war dead in Iraq. Apparently a total of 12 police vans and cars attended.

There is mixed views on the porn blanketing as some say you can opt in to see adult sites once blanket is in place, will you be able to do this or is it total censorship which can't be opt in??

As the linked article says "Oh, the Irony"

Claire Perry MP a vocal champion of porn filtering, has had her own website blocked by the filter!
