I noticed a few people new tothe business have happily signed up with ATVOD

I say happily as making money shooting adult is a bit of a fun hobby to the few I have met in person who dont mind being regulated by an organisation that doesnt actually do anything to protect the minors of its remit but restricts the business of perfectly legitimate content owners

Has signing up to ATVOD affected your sales?

"Protecting the children" is just a cynical front for censorship and a way to compensate for lazy parenting.

I thought you'd know better OEJ? :-)

I don't think 'happily' signed up is ever the feeling Terry, to be honest.
Compliance is an inevitable course of action that people set up in the UK have to abide by, as those in the gambling sector had to few years back. Site owners either do it today or shortly after the letter comes through the door. No easy (read: affordable) way round it I'm afraid

Yes Milzy. I am well aware of that.

My opinion against them is that I think their regulation is totally unworkable and ineffective in its remit so why fund a regulatory body that is in effect doing nothing to protect minors?

So a bunch of websites put itself behind strict payment barriers and display soft core images. This is almost like going window shopping where goods are on offer that the consumer cannot see? This can lead to a rise in rip of activity with sites promising what they dont have.

All this does is drive traffic from legal sites to seek it for free on filesharing and tube sites which give it way for free without age verification

Its just an illusion to placate the public into thinking the government are actually doing something to clean up the internet while its real agenda is as you implied, just to get control of a serious piece of real estate in its war for control

Those who have signed up will be a captive audience to be controlled when ATVOD raise their fees in the future.

I remember they initially wanted ?2,900 per site? How did they arrive at that figure??? They reduced the fee when they found out or should I say, were ADVISED by their recently ousted "representative of the UK industry" that the adult business is not the cash co they expected it to be

Lowering the rates made it appealing to those legally abiding citizens to sign up but suspect the goal posts will move when ATVOD have enough sign ups to warrant it.

Those who cant afford it will simply go the way of those who have closed down already. Either way its a win win for ATVOD in the eyes of the government that theyve brought the UK porn biz to heel.

Simply put, its "Join us or die". They might as well just get the old bill to come around and collect protection money which seems like it is

Meanwhile if you want free porn, it easy to get on web browsers. Kids using that will not know because they dont look for free porn on paysites and that argument was always weak from the start

This would never fly in the US and only in the UK would we roll over and make like a good doggy in the name of being "law abiding"

Hot topic no one wants to comment on because they think Pete Johnson is looking in and puts you on the radar for targetting?...

Or no one cares?

Silence speaks volumes

If you truly believe that Jimmy then you will have some understanding why UKAP are very much relevant in the producers community than you give us credit for

A standing room only meeting that excluded a certain "self appointed representative of the industry" was proof of that last July. You of course being a fan wouldnt know this person by name so I wont bother mention his name.

In short, it might not be relevant here on this forum but we have an audience about this matter and many other things that I would agree with you, are not relevant to a fan forum.

If fans are interested in this business behind the scenes and whats involved they know where to find us. Even if you dont think so

Yes it has affected sales.

No not happy about it.

It's the biggest hippocrisy since the the priest told the choir boy to be good.
