Hi,
I'm British and very new to the adult business world. I have recently put two sites on an AVS but i'm not getting many visitors at the moment. I was wondering if there is any quickish way to build traffic or get listed in a search engine? I wanna pay off some of my student loans!

Getting traffic takes time unless you buy it. Getting on search engines can take between 4 to 8 wks unless you pay for it.

To make any money you need a good clean site with content that is new and not done the rounds. The other problem is AVS thousands of people have bought an avs pass from 1 site that lets them into god knows how many others.
I would suggest if you have plenty of fresh content you go with a billing service that only gives the surfer access to your site...then target your traffic.

1. choose a theme for your site, what is it going to be about?
2. join good affil programs from good pay sites that are in keeping with the theme of your site. Most of these will provide you with content for you to use.
3.set up link trades with as many sites as you can (this one could be a start if you ask nicely)
4.Goto www.bomis.com and submit to ask many rings as possible that are to do with your site - or even start some rings and include your site
5.go to the big link sites (greenguy,tommy etc..) and submit your link there but make sure you already have a nice link back to them, this should be on the first page ABOVE THE ENTER BUTTON.
6. go to www.addme.com and fill out all the forms well, this will submit you to the top engines
7. dont bother will adult check bollacks, it just pisses people off.
8. be honest with you visitors, dont blind link
9.Have a forum, this gives people a reason to check back often.
10. Give the site a personallity, make people remember it.
11.buy a domain name (.co.uk's can be got for ?10 from www.easily.co.uk which includes fowarding)
12. Resubmit to SE's every month
13. Remember people will come back to a site if its good.

I used to run quite a big free brit site as i'm sure some poeple here will remember. It was 100% free and at one point was getting over 8,000 uniques a day, if you need any more advice, get in contact. Good luck!

You may be doing badly as your sites are with the wrong avs or listed in the wrong niche. I work closely with Adult Check and Adult Verifier plus Cyber Age, CyberSex Networks, Net Verifier and Pro Adult.

Generally biz is very poor at the moment with the major avs due to the number of sites listed and membership saturation so don't expect two sites to bring you money from their links lists. You need to ensure that your tours are SE friendly and that the meta tags are good. Too many garphics and not enough actual script causes the spiders to skip over them. Using scripts as java and having your pages in php doesn't help either. You need to start submitting to tgp's.. making galleries and loads of other front doors... Promotion is the hardest part of being a webmaster I can tell you that tight now

Something everyone here has forgotten to mention... maybe because it's all behind the scenes stuff... but well written meta-tags will help considerably.

The website I run for my day job (www.villagemowers.co.uk) has cost me nothing but my time and effort. I've not paid to be listed anywhere and with the exception of two manufacturers we have no links coming in (something which many web design articles say is that the more people link to your site the higher up the listings you'll get). However type in "mowers" or "pedal karts" and we come in the top 10 of the major UK search engines.

As a student you may appreciate that EVERYONE, young or old, has the same problem and the competition is ENORMOUS.
Try everything as suggested above, but expect nothing. After that it is a bonus.

Advice would be good, also where are the right places to be seen. Would like to get into the media spotlight..
