Hi there

I am just saying a quick hello as just joined this site.

I have spent the last few days looking throughout the forum and taking in loads of information.

I have been toying with the idea about starting my own casting (role play) website as there are loads in the US non in the uk (or so I thought till i started reading this site) and I am positive non in Scotland.

I was looking at promoting it more in the states as know from 1st hand experience a lot of the guys over there love uk women and there accents.

I was just wanting to make something that looked a bit basic (me a couple of camcorders some lighting and a model), As it is meant to look like a Scam, girls putting out at the interview thinking it will get them a part in a adult movie. but was professional in the back ground (everyone certed, payed and looked after)

I have no experience apart from stuff at home with ex girls friends but never edited or anything like that

I know it will not be easy, nor a quick project to get running or even cheap in the begining

but in your guys opinion will it be worth it finically in the long run and is there any more room on the market for this kind of thing?

I would be grateful of any advice and help and hope as I can progress I can return the favour

I am expecting a lot of flack but like i said I have been toying with the idea for a while and if you don't try you don't know so please be gentle

thank

Baz

Hi Baz,

First off, I would love to see this sort of thing as I'm a fellow Scot and there's not nearly enough Scottish talent on show at the moment!

Like you I have 0 experience in porn (apart from making home movies with the missus ;) haha) so this is just average bloke opinions here, but I don't think that's too much of an obstacle if you have a clear plan of what you want to achieve and how you're going to achieve it.

I think the casting theme is a great idea and would look great if you really worked on making it appear ameteur and realistic. Americans do big budget porn well and so do a few British companies but they've been at it for years, learnt their craft and found the money to make it so. But that doesn't mean there isn't a market for low budget ameteur stuff. You've just got to hide the negatives and push the positives. You might not have the good lighting/sound and 1080p picture quality but that lends itself to the tone you're going for. But if you do have great talent and good storylines that cater to everyones different tastes/fetishes/etc then you could eventually stand up next to some of the bigger studio stuff. At some point they must have been in your shoes anyway.

The only drawback I could potentially see is that you could be restricting yourself to one kind of theme. Which could mean people get bored later on down the line. I reckon you could get round this with the right kind of writing and scenarios but you might want to consider opening it up a bit, just incase.

Hope all that was helpful! Haha! Hopefully some of the pros on here can help give you some good advice! All the best mate!! :)

Hi,

1) Invest in decent kit - camera, sound and lights, but these days 2-3K is enough to shoot well lit porn. And plenty of people do it for less.

Editing - you'll need a fast PC dedicated to editing only, and while you can do basic editing with Movie Maker, it will pay to invest in some higher end software like Sony Vegas (which I use).

You can teach yourself editing. It's a slog but you won't be able to afford an editor.

2) Girls. Not many in Scotland. They pop up from time to time but find that there just isn't the work.

You'll need to be willing to cover the costs of English girls from the North, poss the Midlands.

3) Market - the only way to find that out is to try it, but don't underestimate what's involved. You have to make enough content to be takern seriously, and you have to do the marketing to get that content noticed.

4) To be honest, don't start as a business unless you can afford to risk about 20-30K, (mainly on model fees).

If you can't risk that kind of money, only spend what you can afford as a hobby, and take it slowly.

Good luck.

Sadly there aren't enough Scottish girls working to those levels for you to keep to a purely Scottish theme and produce enough new content to keep any site fresh.

I shoot as many Scottish girls as I can but sadly can't find enough of them!

Good luck and hope you have deep pockets!

If you find any Scottish girls looking for work please pass on my details.

Small pond, less likely to find fish = no business.

Why do you think most providers/producers are several hundred miles south of you.

A sad fact but you have to go where the talent is, and there has been very little talent from Scotland; yes some but not enough to sutain a living.
