AITA start discussions with British Association for Sexual Health & HIV (BASH) on ways to improve testing within UK adult industry.

More details to follow, along with date of the open meeting for Producers & Performers to discuss the AITA/ UKAP draft health protocols.

Well done AITA again for igniting interest. I really hope the models will come forward and participate, after all, it is all with them in mind and in their best interests to improve the business t reduces the risks of STDs in the work place

If prices of private tests come in line more with NHS tests prices everyone would be up for opting in...there is a recession on remember & people will be guided by the tests they can afford.

We don't think the 14 day test rule will be standard as a bigger percentage of people use NHS at present, the doctors we have spoke to asked if these private clinics used a totally different method to them as the incubation of most STD's take longer than 14 days to show up.

The only advantage of a 14 day test is that things can be contained quicker but the down side is a lot of of NHS clinics won't do 14 days tests as they don't see the point this would need to be worked on.

Keeping this subject active is a good thing as sexual health is very important, be realistic in the factor that only a small percentage of models get regular work & the others struggle so prices of private tests need to come down quite a bit to accommodate these people as well...if not it will separate the industry in two.

To add to Kim's comments about the 14 days, some clinics take 10 working days to get results back, add postage time onto that and they are out of date before you've opened the envelope

You are absolutely right a 14 day test is ridiculous. The NHS cannot do a fast turnaround and a private clinic that could, would be prohibitively expensive. It would result in a sort of apartheid, where the only people that work are thise that can afford to pay for the tests and no one else.

Also no one makes this point, why should a stud or model who is shagging non-stop be tested at the same frequency as a model who maybe just does 3 or 4 jobs a month? Ideally there would be a kind of logbook that a producer would sign after every scene and a performer would have to be tested after so many scenes. Of course this is totally impractical.

I would say, if nothing else if there was a way to make a monthly test Not FORGEABLE then this alone would be a major step forward. AITA and BASH can have meetings till the end of time, 1 week, 2 week, 3 week tests, they mean NOTHING if the tests can be forged and forged they will be! Simples!

The problem is the NHS clinics are simply not willing to communicate with each other on matters like this. They will not agree to standardise their letterhead or emboss their certs in some way and the private clinics care about profit and nothing else. It is an impossible situation and in my opinion at this moment in time, unsolvable. I've said till I'm blue in the face that all the clinics should use the same letterhead and be given an embossing stamp by us if necessary and a specimen test is published for all to see on this forum. So any models knocking up dodgy certs on their printers will be buggered unless they buy exactly the same embossing stamp.

But of course this is all pie in the sky.

I am afraid at the speed things will move, this industry will be lying in the ruins of post anti-biotic resistant Gonnoreah and we will still be having meetings and discussions and getting nowhere and I will be accused of being a "Scare-monger!" Lol

That doesnt sound like a bad thing. I bet that eould reduce the risks considerably, It owuld almost be like the old days whre the most you got once a blue moon was an NSU or at worst warts (yeesh)

I agree though the 4 days testing would never work and would be an open day for faking certs as people want to get the jobs but cant take the time out to get tests. Is this indeed what happened with Mr "faked my tests while having syphillis" Marcus?

I've gone on record saying this before but the adult industry, all of us in it shoul not expect the NHS to work for us while we openly engage in sexual activity they frown upon. Not talking the anal and dps but the barebacks the multiple partners, the lot.

Seriously, we are the Evel Kneivels of sex.We are a liability and a hazard. The only reason they tolerate us at all is because we make the effort or rather it was the effort that was standardised by models in 2004 that laid the rules they know of today but when the HIV case that never was reared its head you can almost see them rolling their eyes skyward in disbelief.

We are supposed to be a business and if we cannot treat it like one then we should just put up with whats available to us at present. The NHS owe us nothing in standardising tests unless we put money their way to do it.

You know we've tried to make inroads on this topic without success and cannot be blamed for trying. The models should look to themselves. We are there to help them if they want it. Without their support its never going to happen anyway and this BASH thing is an attempt to draw them to the table and state how they want it to go.

Whats the odds that it will fail for lack of support?
