I need your help!!!

Ok so I have an ameature website which is my www.bambiblack.com. I built this just out of curiosity to see how it would do, to my shock it's had over 15000 hits in just a few months.

I'm looking now to step it up and have a proper content selling site with members areas and and webcam sessions etc...

Looking for someone to possibaly build one or advice on how to go about getting one done as I'm getting loads of requests from guys to purchase my content.

Hope someone can help

The overhead in a site can be significant.

You need to be committed to shooting 1-2 days a month to generate new content.

You need ATVOD membership and should also pay for BBFC certification of all your content.

Plus you will need hosting etc - AIR is hosted on a basic account with http://www.servage.net/?coupon=affi19995 - which is cheap but assumes that you can build your own site. If you want effective phone support you will need a more expensive solution (I pay servage less than 10 a month, but on another project where I knew I needed tech help I paid 200 a month, and the extra was worth it).

Websites comprise "visuals" and "function" and if you want to be fussy about graphics, that can get very expensive very quickly. The function aspect is pretty much standardised.

Then you need to PAY your webmaster. One of the biggest issues I get from models is "my webmaster ran away" :-

a) Failing to build the site. Typically "a friend" who thought it might fun to build a porn site, probably hoped for fringe benefits from the grateful model, then got bored.

Avoid this by paying.

b) Failing to update content.

Avoid this by requiring that the site updating is done by you. You need a CMS.

c) Failing to pay you your money.

Make sure the money goes to YOUR bank account.

SO.....

If you have buyers TODAY, use AdultWork and Clips for Sale and http://www.adultindustryresources.com/d ... irty-hobby until you can afford to do your own site properly, AND you are confident that you will make more money that way.

Math - if you can get your site live and legal for ?3k and you sell 10K your profit is 70% of the gross - i.e. the same as AW. So if you'd only sell 5K, you'd better off on AW.

MULTI CHANNEL - if you have your own site, but stuff their FIRST, then after say 3 months, feed out to AW, C4S, MDH etc - make money from all channels, but fans get it first.

That was good advice & its understandable why so many people do use AIR as a main source for their modeling / producing needs.

Absolutely rocksteady advice Paul.

The website business aint what it used to be, even for those of us who are fortunate to do well from it! For newcomers to the market it is brutally unforgiving!

You should pay for BBFC certification Paul!?

That's the first killer

Why pay all that money out to have the BBFC tag kill any interest in people looking at it?

If that doesnt kill your business stone dead then signing up with ATVOD is a straight bullet to the head because you cant even take credit cards so how are you going to make money if someone actually likes your content past the BBFC certification

I meant it was good advice to use AW & Clips for Sale not Join ATVOD or BBFC your works, in todays present climate you need to be saving your pennies not wasting them on Government stealth taxes.

I misread what you said in the first paragraph in that you was saying this is what's expected of new film makers & models, you are a great guy Paul & full of good advice but joining ATVOD & miss spending money on BBFC is suicide as you are policed in everything you do from then on while the rest of us coin in the money without penalties.

If you have your own adult website then the law says you need to be a member of ATVOD.

My comments re ATVOD and BBFC etc were in respect of the significant overhead in running your own site.

My personal view is simple - I'm not sure that these days it makes sense for anyone small scale and Uk based to start their own selling site.
