We're looking to acquire a smaller B camera for second unit, POV and close up.

Is anyone currently using this: Panasonic Ag-af101e

Have you considered, if you're looking to 'match' with an AF101, going down the video-DSLR route.

The reason I say that is that the Panny DMC-GH2 camera shoots fantastic video (even better if hacked - which allows, depending on the hack, 100mbps+ bitrates!!); and being M4/3 camera, uses the same lens at the AF101.

TBH I'd only considered the Canon setup..primarily because of the lenses available.
So that's interesting..I was a big fan of Panasonic's Lumix product because they were using Leica lenses at prosumer level. They seemed to have ramped it up even further now.

At the time I bought our JVC there was only Canon and Panasonic making HD camcorders with detachable lenses and true 24p at our budget.

I digress. The only real issues I'd have with a video DSLR is stability, marrying available video kit and of course the fat that we've already heavily invested in Nikon DSLR lenses.

Im assuming you have a GH2?

Sorry, when you mentioned the AF101, I thought you were looking to get something to 'match' it.

And the GH2 (esp. when hacked) does shoot fantastic video - with the limitations of a DSLR.

No, we use a JVC HDGY250 as main, but it sits on a tripod cos of the weight and dimension.

Ideally we're looking for a smaller more mobile camera that punches above it's weight.
