how long is a piece of the proverbial?
are you looking at 512kbps, 1mb or 2mb? how near are you to the exchange (distance makes a difference - the closer the better). what is the contention ratio policy of your isp (i.e. how many other people could potentially be using the same line as yourself)? what time of day or night do you tend to download stuff (early evenings are liable to be slower, if you have a lot of other users downloading stuff via the same connection, simultaneously).
aside from all that, the x-factor will always be the quality of the connection at the other end. if you've got 2mb pipe but the bloke at the other end is struggling by on a 56k dial-up, it could be some time before you see anything viewable at your end.

A lot less than on a 56K modem.
Usually......

Also, downloading from kazaa is reliant upon someone sharing that file being connected. If it's a file only a few users have, and none of the buggers are online, then it could take a VERY long time indeed.

Yeah, but since you can remain more or less permanently online with BB, you can just leave it running in the corner and get on with other things.

I use NTL broadband (600kps) - a movie like that can take overnight so its always best to use a download manager (I use Flashget) so you can resume if the connection breaks down (it still can even with broadband - it takes several links to make a good conection). I never use Kazaa though - I subscribe to adultbouncer and a couple of other movie sites - more reliable on the whole and you get more choice.
btw NEVER set the download manager to multiple file streams - it messes up avi files for some reason (in my experience anyway)
ps Boomer - is that you from the Simonscan's forum? Hi from a fellow travellor (if it is the same Boomer) - apologies if not.
