Setting up a models solo website

Someone I know is thinking of setting up her own website and is wondering about the full costs.
I've tried to explain that it's not as easy as "Oh I think I'll build a website" in terms of running, managing, getting content, etc. but someone she knows is building if for her and she wants to "at least give it a try".
I know its been asked a few times already on here by others but does anyone have ideas on the costs involved, legal requirements for hosting etc. please?
I am not trying to put her off, just think she isn't aware of everything involved, on top of the costs she's thinking about.
She's not looking for someone else to build it for her but if anyone does have any advice (in links that can be forwarded if possible please) it would be appreciated.
Thanks
Andy

I have some useful solutions.
How effective they'd be would depend on the details of the model(s) involved and what sort of content they were proposing.
My e-mail address is in my signature.

Joanna Jet seems to run a good operation at Brazen Devil - she builds and runs the sites, seeks other ways to sell the content and sets up content share days.
But it's not get rich quick, and really to make money with a members site you have to have something special OR established a fan base.
I met her last summer and she seemed to have all the bases covered - content, site, sales and marketing (S&M is wheat most photographer/webmaster driven sites are bad at).

lol I could write a book on it... I used to run
www.puretotty.com which then became
www.durtygirls.com
More recently I launched
www.PixelBucks.com which includes sites like
www.sophiecocks.com and
www.nataliebanks.com
Your right it isnt easy... many have tried and soon realised lol.
There is a bunch of stuff involved... the biggest thing is getting the traffic ! But as I said it would involve me writing a book to explain it...

Completely agree with you about getting the traffic.
I am inclined to think she won't get it without significant effort and even with that won't get what she thinks she will but hoping the costs, laws and all the other things, including what happens once live, will make her think about the step she is being advised to take.

Damn pure totty..Times must be hard if youre gonna give up the goods for a meal !laugh!
Another way is to say..You missed the train of opportunity on that one.
Sure there is plenty room for producers but it depends if you are some kind of whiz kid in getting traffic. Ambitious people have tried and died usually within a year and er Paul...You might want to recheck your info about that business model working.
Out of al fairness I would say, with any business, really do your homework first and expect you will run at a loss for quite some time unless you get all brand new models doing the same thing that canbe got on similar sites then i would say dont bother
As for models, how do you know girls wil commit if she doesnt see a regular income.
Nothing loses a girls interest quicker if she isnt making money.
In fact, take me and pure totty out for a curry. I'll give up the goods. I'm starvin' like Marvin
