Erotica porno section?

People, I'd like to get your input on an idea...

As many of you know, Strictly Broadband has a stand at Erotica every year, where fans can come to meet British porn girls. Unfortunately, Erotica doesn't have a great deal to offer porn fans, and last year we were almost the only porn presence there.

Various people have tried and failed to launched alternative shows (and many more have talked/moaned about it). This means that, like it or not, Erotica is the only show in town.

So here's the idea - I'm trying to persuade Erotica to have a dedicated porn section at this year's event. Besides DVD sales, this would be a place where girls (and guys) as well as producers, web site owners etc. can exhibit. I want them to loosen the rules a bit regarding display of hardcore porn, photos with girls, etc... I also think they need to provide cheap space for actresses as I know budgets are tight.

Any comments, ideas etc. please post them here. If you'd be interested in exhibiting there, drop me an email (it's on my profile) so I can get an idea as to whether this could work.

We could also have a speakers/debates/demos section.

Basically, this might be the first chance in a long time for the UK porn biz to have a proper show for the public - if there's enough interest.

The Erotica organisers e-mailed various people only a few weeks ago asking them to participate in a series of planning meetings regarding the content of next year's show.

Get in on those, I would have thought would be the best solution.

I wonder though whether the decisions they make about what they can exhibit are mainly of their own choosing or are imposed upon them by the exhibition hall and local council.

Those were "focus group" type sessions, taking feedback mostly from people who attend the show rather than industry people. This is different: an approach by the porn industry to make a part of the show more "porny".

By putting porn inside a separate area, I'm pretty sure they can push the limits a little further. The question is whether enough people in the industry are prepared to fill that space.

I personally had a little (and very public) run-in with the Erotica organisers a few years ago. However, times have changed. Even Ben Dover is allowed in these days! !wink!

There's a real chance of getting something together so long as the industry is interested.

I"d be interested in cheap space.. and there lies the Rub..It would have to be cheap..When ive looked into it before its been way too costly if your a start up concern or single outfit....Im sure LOADS girls would be interested if it was more affordable.... (Stock, banner, posters, general marketing stuff, bags, pens, mugs,t Shirts promo items et al-it all adds up..)!sad!

Hi sexy sarah xx
Storm has been asked a number of times by guys (and some girls!!) if they can get signed pics or heavens forbid posters, one guy wanted a mouse mat of storms 4og's......whatever !!! Prob as you said is that it all adds up cost wise and you also have to sell it all to make your money back or (lets be honest) make a profit - the other problem being finding a supplier of promotional stuff who will cater to the adult industry - i'm sure it could be done if enough performers were interested .....might be an exercise in futility but I might ask a few questions. gives me something to do whilst storms out doing her thang !grin!

My pennyworth as an Erotica visitor and "porn consumer" with ?s to spend, last year's Erotica show was - from my perspective - the worst ever, and I may well not go again. Something like this would probably tempt me back so go for it, JB.
There was a very good show (in my opinion) a couple of years back in the NIA in Birmingham (think it was called the Adults Only Show) which was much more along the lines of what I think you are suggesting - more porn producers promoting their own material, more models there working on the stands and photography was allowed (if the models were happy - all were!!).
I also wonder if the big hall at Olympia (the Grand Hall) is now too big for Erotica and whether a move back to the other hall (think its called the National Hall - where the first Erotica was held) might be better - less unused space? The porn section could be established on the balcony.

Entirely agree with tag, and fully support JB's initiative. Unless the local council's restrictions have changed in recent years, I'm not sure that's a factor, as you wouldn't be asking Erotica to do anything different to the kind of things they did, say five or six years ago - when there was indeed a dedicated porn presence, girls from the likes of Harmony, Private etc etc appearing. AIUI it's only when there's nudity that the council gets... ahem... shirty.
