I'm not sure if this is the right part of the forum but I've noticed a worrying trend during the recession.

Over the past few months, I've been in touch with a few film producers about doing some things with them (e.g. co-starring in shoots).

As many people know, I'm happy to do TFPs however a number of recent 'producers' have asked me to cover the whole cost of the scene and keep the copyright of the scene so they can re-sell it.

I know many people will say "guys are a risk", "we waste time" but if people wanted a guarantee, surely they should be hiring the few porn studs.

I've also seen postings on here about 'auditions' which again when you got down to it, the audition was little more than a guy charging ?300+ for 1/2 with a model.

I have no problems contributing towards a scene but to be expected to cover all the costs it a bit much.

Is this just my experience or have other guys found this too?

Yes my Inbox is full of stuff like this, I'm happy to contribute to a cost of a shoot if it's for a model's personal site on a content share basis, I've no website myself but just want pics to promote myself because stuff takes ages to be released lol. Serriously though it has to be genuine as you do get ridiculous requests for contributions sometimes from something you won't get anythign out of. I think I may know who that was how wanted you to pay ?300 & if the contact me again then I'm going name & shame them.

I get that "New guys are a risk" all of the time & however much truth there is to that to be fair I've proven myself. I don't put myself in the same catagory as some of the male talent out there, my rates reflect that, so if you want someone better then pay more & hire them.

My 1st full sex scene has finally been released (recorded back in Decemeber) so I'm hoping people will see that taking into account that was my 3rd cumshot that day & I worked with a cold at short notice & offer me stuff.

Not listing the offers I get but some of them are insulting some still refuse to cover my travel costs on top of my rates lol.

No way mate! OMG! I would never expect a model to pay the costs of the female & the have all copyright.! WTF is going on....

You should at least have a joint copyright. It may not be exclusive content but at lest then you have provided yourself and the model & the producer has provided the film work.

Because of my site I get crazy amounts of guys "really serious" and they have no pics, no showreel, no evidence.

My usual response is to quote them a full price shoot so they can get evidence of ability, though I do tell them that they will own the material.

After all, they paid for it.

Most bleat that they "just want a chance" and I never hear from them again.

I have tried new guys before, but very mixed results. I have a nasty amount of unsalable footage.

being a girl, I havent ever asked to cover costs. But we get the same insulting emails & endless content share emails. whether you enjoy your job or not, you still have to make aa living, and travel is exspense ... some offers of work, only work to make you even less better off!

Hence my own retirement, unfortunately many people are just out to use & exploit others, to gain for themselves. Its very unfortunate, but reality, it just put me off working in the industry & dealing with it. and when things look too good to be true they generally are, the 'big breaks' & 'exspences paid' are mostly just a con!

If the industry was as it should be, I doubt I wouldve retired, but sadly, its not and travelling non stop, working hard & delivering good scenes to be or feel used just isnt what I waant from a career ):

Producers could adopt some sort of 'deposit and bonus' scheme.

As a performer you either lose your deposit or get a bonus depending on how forgettable or 'engaging' the scene was. I use the term 'engaging' since it could mean raw energy, good humour, or anything else that engages the viewer. Girls could be made to pay a deposit too, if guys are expected to pay it, since sometimes the reason a guy can't show his best side is because the girl is too closed off. The question is at what stage should the deposit be paid. Perhaps before the shoot day, maybe 3-4 days before, in case any performer should drop out. The deposits and bonusus should be substantial to encourage performers to agree to the scheme and to ensure bland scenes are consigned to history.

The people who would object to this are established performers since it would encourage producers to take more of a risk with new talent.


Of course none of what I said could possibly work, since the porn industry is better off being more like the Serengeti. Survival of the fittest. Death to the docile. Basically, the only rule of the porn industry is what you can get away with, and the proof you got away with it is whether you're still around in 6 months time.

Personally i dont see an issue with a "producer" wanting new untried male talent paying for their chance to prove themselves.
Why not? If i was confident in my ability to perform in this industry then putting my money where my mouth was is a small price to pay, afterall if i can prove myself then ive potentailly got years of work ahead of me.

Who is a producer going to book, the new man who knows hes got what it takes or the man whos got some good footage under his belt and concrete proof of his ability?

Harry this opinion isnt aimed at yourself who has obviously got the skills required to warrant paid work.

The only ethical issue as far as i am concerned is a producer who would book a fella with a 2" cock and tell him if he pays his money hes gonna be a star.

FWIW how I started in this biz was to book and pay for my own first shoot, precisely so that I had material to show producers.

Basically guys, the rules have been simple for many years - either find a new girl who wants to do it, or invest the price of a cheap Prague weekend in showing that you can.

But IF YOU PAY, the material should be yours.

A producer might ask you to work for free - e.g. he is shooting a BG and is open to making it a threesome - but he won't be relying on you.

A producer should not BOTH ask to be paid, AND require the material.

The successfull guys in the biz are like Sexual Athletes at The Top of their chosen game-able to get it up,keep it up and then come AS they are told ... So they have earnt the right,honing their "skills"over many,many shoots, to command the bucks,the respect,the girls and parties!party! that they do... ..... New guys want to break into this Elite Club in countless numbers,so there has to be a minimum entry point at least,if only to save us poor girls from endless hours waiting around (joke!wink!) and also PROTECT the earnings of the core people who actually make the industry work .. as , if they cant get (enough)work,they get (other)jobs and are then perhaps less avialable,hastening a steady decline in the Uk Porn Biz ,perhaps? If this means SHOWING a guy can produce,with a showreel then so be it... It would also demonstrate confidence in a guys ability,plus that he is SERIOUS about the business and that he might even be reliable/dependable.. How else are Producers expected to add someone to their little black book of Preferred Studs? .... "through fire you get Steel" after all..
