Hi BGAFD Citizens.

Spanner Productions has the cameras for both stills and Vid !happy!(not quite up to speilburg standard but results are looking promising so far) we even have the website being built as we speak, we have some very naughty content already and some equally sexy peeps willing to work with us to create more !drool! - but can I buggery find the right lights.........!deadhorse!
Have looked on e-bay (thanks Myson for the tip !thumbsup!)as an example and the choices of different lights available are quite mind blowing !confused!....

Ok , question to the all wise and knowing BGAFD guru's !bow! !bow!- what lights should I be looking for ?
Need to be portable... but other than that , suggestions please on a postcard.

Money is no object, a complete hinderence yes, but not an object !laugh!
I dont have much left to play with so any suggestions on super duper lighting systems that work best cos they have gold plated fittings etc will just upset me more !grin!

Well when i first started i simply used a site light bounced off a white ceiling, its a bit of a mallet wielding approach to lighting and the room gets bloody hot quickly but it does the job especially if your on a budget right now. I know a few "professionals" that still use this method. The only drawback is there not exactly portable and the cheap ones break easily but that said they are very cheap.

As indicated in another thread recently, fluorescents are increasingly popular for video shooting. I use them both for broadcast as well as porn. They have a high output for low wattage, run very cool so your models (and you) dont expire from the heat during the shoot, are relatively portable, aren't too expensive, and come in a variety of shapes, sizes and prices. You dont have to spend ?1000 + on KinoFlos, you can pick up perfectly adequate units on ebay for example for around ?200.

problem with fluorescent or more likely tungsten lighting is unless you get the white balance right you'll end up with a yellow cast on the film due to the lights kelvin temperature. Personally i'd avoid it.

I speak only from a video point of view, but the fluorescents units I use have good quality interchangable tubes for 3200k and 5500k. You can always add colour correction gel to slightly warm or cool the light if you are not happy with the colour temp you get. I've rarely had white balance problems. Its not difficult to get good colour rendering if you take a little care. And as I said, the low heat output against redheads and other tungsten lights is such a godsend in a small room on a hot day. I would also think it very unlikely that many people are still using film either as a stills or moving medium, so the problem of poor colour balance shouldn't be a hit and miss affair as a glance at the screen will show.
