Getting paid

Hi everyone. Just something I thought id ask and would value any comments. I have been offered to do a boy/girl shoot. They said that I would be paid by cheque. Is that the norm? Thanks in advance.

cheque is more common
its the only way us producers can prove to the tax man that we are really paying the models , and not slipping down the pub for 8 pints of stella and a cicken dansak with the cash

What about cashiers checks/money orders from major banks? That solves both problems.
