I d/l this the other day. Does it have any disadvantages? Like blocking certain pages etc. It seems OK so far but I heard it can be a nuisance at times.

thats why there are all those disclaimers in the terms and conditions...you take your chances...best bet is to make sure there is an uninstaller with the download

Try doing a search under "pop up stopper" then search within results under "known conflicts"

Ow, my brain.......shouldn't be a problem unless you hit a site where you actually WANT the pop-ups- and there are a few where this actually applies.

Well it stops java windows opening, and will also prevent links working if they're set to open in a new window, also right-click then "open in new window" may not work (depending which version you have).

But if you click a link that refuses to work then you can just re-try clicking it holding down the Ctrl key as that disables the pop-up stopper for the duration that the key is depressed.

I use Opera which has its own pop-up killer and works very well. Iy can be configured to allow some, all or specific pop-ups. Other disadvantages of dedicated pop-up killers (some mentioned by KJ) include a site supported by pop-ups not being paid, some pages not loading whatsoever (java problems) and. it being impossible to download (again java problems)

it is a good program. you can disable the pop up you want to open a java link then just active it again by presing the red cross sign at the top.
