Model release buying one back

Hi All

I need some advice on this one, I shot a stunning model a while back late last year.

I have a full model release etc as usual, but she has just met a new bf, and has emailed me asking (pleading) if she can buy back the model release and therefore the two set of pics.

If I decide to do this, which is a shame (she is stunning), but to be honest I'm too soft for my own good...

How much should I charge her, the price of the shoot?

Or the expected income the 2 sets would have generated??

What do you think?

Thanks in advance

Check out my blog below, over 1500 pics of 34 young first timers (so far!)

Great fulls screen shots of these girls getting really naughty, cumshots galore.

Hi Ric For this I would suggest you negiotiate on the basis of substitution. That is she pays for the same amounts of contents she is receiving from a simialr quality model.

I dont know what the rules are on this, but she should have thought long and hard (no pun intended lol) about this before she agreed and signed the form and took the money.

You do sound like a nice guy and as such will probably give it to her back, but I would say she should be expected to pay whatever you paid her plus lost revenue and maybe she will think twice next time she decides to do a shoot and then messes people around.

I mean you could have spent hours editing the shots aswell, so not only lost revenue but a complete waste of your time.

But what is the likely hood of this "new boyfriend" even finding the pictures really, if he is looking on AW he is obviously looking for something.

Just food for thought

Hi Melodyx
Well I would say if you paid her for the shoot that it! But I would charge her ?800 per set! You will get ?400 per set so you bubble the cost to ?800 per set! The copy right is your and you don't have to do any think at all! What she trying to do is by the copyright! I would though she may use them her self!

yep I have been told I am a nice guy but I would not give her them back. I have had this happen only once in the past as I shot some unknown girls of the past 5 years and I always tell them before we begin that there is o going back and this is final, then again I had the scene up on my site by then and it was selling so no way was I going to remove it.

I would say dont be so soft but thats the business man in me, but Melody is right it was good enough at the time and is she going to pay you the full amount you paid her?

Rico dont be a mug mate,

Paul

Yep, if you can quantify that, thats what it should be. Just because she's changed her mind doesn't mean you should lose out. Many people make mistakes that they'd rater erase from their past but have no chance of doing so, she has that rare opportunity, so if she really wants it, it should be to your detriment.

This is a tough one to call, but i would say cost of model release if a fee has been paid and say the cost of the shoot if you were commission by a model to do the same shoot, i.e your time per hour or half day rate etc.

If you are a businessman, whatever you do don't take the following advice because I'm a complete softie when it comes to the ladies.

Personally I would give her the pics for free, rip up the contract, shake hands and move on.
Frankly, reputation is everything in this business and I guard mine with an iron hand. What will it really cost you to give this girl peace of mind?
Perhaps in years to come you too will sleep easier knowing that you did this good thing and helped someone turn back from a road they now regret... perhaps.
What price a clean conscience eh?
I have bloody loads of pics I could sell, host, rent etc blah blah blah. I have the releases to cover me too. But basically when a girl makes a mistake and wants out I don't stand in her way. One less person with a shitty tale to tell about all us 'bastards' in porn - right?!

Like I said - don't do it my way... because you'll make less money.
Unless you just want to be happy.

I agree with UglyDaz. I've just done exactly that with a very nice girl.

But then I believe in karma.

(To be fair I hadn't yet put additional time into editing the set).

I still earn from shoots I have done three years ago.
Hard to say what the sets might earn over time.
All I know is just when i think a set isnt going to sell again sombody pops into the content store where my sets are and buys it.

wouldnt like to be in your situation.
