Girls' names o/t?

Post by Bayleaf »

Anybody know why it was such a fashion in Eastern Europe between 1978 and 1984 to name their prettiest girl children after English girls-next-door?

I think the fashion was rather for US porn-producers of the 90s and 00s to pseudonymise every E European starlet (with, to them, unpronounceable original names) after their first girlfriends......

Sounds plausible JJ

Then there was the mass invasion of Brit Mags
by the hungarians & czechs

Sandy...Zsannet Egerhazi
Cindy...Tereza Benesova
Patricia...Monika Hajkova
Lucy/Regina Hall...Lucy Faubert,Nina Ranakova,Lina Novich

and the list goes on

Even some of the Brit girls didn't use real names

Poppy Coles...Louise Dowler?

cheers

Names are usually changed to keep the taxman away. Family more away or in the dark at least. And more often than not by the copy editor who can't spell or fit the name onto a box cover.
