Hey All,
I'm looking at investing in some studio lighting but I don't have much of a clue as to what to go for. Any help, tips, suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Donna.x

I may be an idiot, but I'm seriously thinking of getting these.

It seems to me that conventional studio lights are bulky, expensive, hot, fragile and unreliable. LED lights are taking the place of conventional bulbs in all areas but haven't done so in studio lighting as far as I know, but they've started doing so in stage lighting.

As a result, products like this by KAM LED ParBar designed for stage lighting can produce white light but can also mix through to any other colour. Then you can make them flash on and off for your karaoke night :-)

Not sure yet if they're intense enough for stills and video filming, but suspect they might be. They're certainly highly portable, and cheap-ish at ?350 or so.

For video work I use 3 Linarospots, all fitted with slide dimmers, and a diffusion hood that fits to any of the lights. The set I have is called ?Lilliput? and its all quite sexy.

The complete kit costs about a grand, and includes tripods, and soft carry case.

/Google?s UK Linaro

Kit Contains:
3 x 150 Lilliput Heads
3 x 159 Barn Doors
3 x 153 Accessory Holders
3 x 156 Dichroic Filters
3 x 158 Diffusion Filters
3 x 2440 3 x 64516 300w Lamps 1 x Padded Soft Bag

I?ve had mine over 3 years, and the bulbs still work fine.

Anyone any thoughts about the LED lights I suggested? Because they're a third of the cost, half the weight, last forever and are infinitely variable in colour. May just not be very bright though...
