Alec if you could post on the newsgroup and apologise due to the fact I picked a crap free host, that would be cool.

Thanks

Sorry I meant that was a crap free host for the first version of this site. This one seems cool.

Do apologise for the misunderstanding.

Thanks

Got through to site O.K. but as you'd expect of a free site lots of pop ups. Still good though:-)

Greetings Alec,

I followed the link to the site, in my perennial search for all things Vida,
my favourite model as no doubt you (and most regulars) are well aware. Nice
set but I've already got it, posted to the group by Vax not so long ago.

However, after flicking through the home page and onto the Vida/Solange set,
my firewall reported an unprecedented incident.. not so much an intrusion as
an extrusion. IE was trying to transmit on port 1086, something it's not
allowed to do. This was duly blocked.

Now, being of a curious nature, I wondered why this was. I think I may have
found a possible explanation, please check the details below, gleaned from a
recent edition of a respected UK computer magazine (probably subject to
copyright, so I'm not naming it).

Cookies have often been linked to Internet security problems. However, their
sinister sibling, the woozle, is much more of a worry.

These artefacts have been named after the beasts that nibble the fur of
unsuspecting teddy bears in Winnie the Pooh. Woozles behave in a similar
manner to cookies, but they tend to be paired with virus-like code. They
work by looking around for information such as email, passwords and
databases. Once found, this information is passed back through a TCP/IP
port, without the user's knowledge.

A possible and plausible explanation of the incident, correct or not I don't
know, but this is the first time the firewall has reported anything like
this. I'm not blaming yourself or krome for this, my gut feeling is that it
is more likely to be the hosting company in question but I would be
interested in your comments.

BTW, a salutary reminder to anyone reading this without a firewall or decent
anti-virus software - HELLOOO - thudthudthud - MCFLYYYY!

Regards,

Wintermute

The problem should be sorted now. I have disabled the pop ups ( I think). They were the free hosts, not mine. Decent bit of Javascript should help your surfing!!

Still Problems with pop-ups !

Hi Krome,

Can get through to Michelle Thorne gallery okay, the best series on B.A.B XIII, but click on a thumbnail, and damn pop-ups again . I've only tried Michelle's gallery so i don't know if it's the same with some of the others :-(

It was the woozle that was most worrying to Wintermute. Have you fixed that too?
