working behind scenes

Hi i was wondering if anyone had any advice or contacts to get work behind the scenes. i have a degree in media and would really like to get into the business would just like to lern more about the industry first. im really skilled on camera and sound but also on editing and have my own editing facility im based in the north west if that helps.
