Sex and UK TV

Boogie Nights In Surburbia: 11pm : E4.

Very poor. Will there ever be a documentary made on porn that leaves me with a warm glow in my heart? Not likely, it seems. Even with the presence of the immortal Ben Dover, this was one of those "porn is dodgy and is all about men exploiting girls" programmes. Cue black and white grainy shots (like old tv), spooky music in the background, lingering shots on performer's children interminlged with edited footage of the mother discussing her job.

What the documentary failed to emphasise was the happiness and willingness of the girls to get down and dirty, the professionalism of the guys (huge big hug from Mr Dover, another bloke explaining exactly what is involved to the girl and making sure she is aware and happy at all times) - add some colour to it, and an upbeat soundtrack and you would have had an entirely different programme.

Damn these patronising documentary makers trying to subject us to their out of date prejudices.

I do have a couple of questions for discussion however -

1. Is it illegal in this country to broadcast a pro-porn documentary?

2. How real do folk feel the dangers (that these documentaries would have us believe are common place) actually are?

Didn't see the documentary, but to answer the substantive point
"Is it illegal to make a pro-porn programme?"
No. But who'd want to? People actually enjoying something doesn't seem much of a story, sadly.

And there'd be a hell of an outcry from the tabloids and the politicians - the former because although most of them peddle a more insidious kind of porn by dredging through the sludge of peoples' lives in the gossip column they want to appear whiter than white, and the latter because they perceive lots of votes against them if they don't make strong statements about it ("Think about the grey-rinse C of E vote")
Bloody hypocrites, one and all.

Anyone know of any country which is different? I feel like emigrating.
