Kim, its not necesarily the actual equipment that makes a difference (although it helps). Its the experience and apptitude of the videographer, properly trained their set ups usually better and more interesting that the amatuer crap we get a lot of...
I think you should be looking at CV of previous work as well as equipment.
Also most so called HD isnt really any better than the DV cameras you get in Dixons. As information going into the camera is HD, however the camera chips are usually too small to handle full res and it compresses it. Then it is recorded to tape or DVD compressing it further, therefore nowhere near what it is advertising.

Thanks Guys for your replies, i do agree LittleManTate CV's are important but everyone starts somewhere. The reason we are fishing around is because the formats are changing quicker than we can keep up with them.
Next year launches OLED to replace LCD & PLASMA, the OLED system is twice the quality of 1080p so films recorded in the lower formats will look poor quality as we know by our 3ccd chip camera on a 50 inch screen.
We will contact the people who have got in touch over the ext couple of days.
Thanks Kim & John xxx

Hi Guys
What we did like was the picture difference which puts mini DV to shame, we are looking for guys/girls just out of college or someone who shoots e.g. weddings etc who has their own high end gear who would like to be introduced into the industry. They must own & know how to use high end equipment & we will teach them the rest. Pro videographers are no good (no offence) has we need a person we can mould to shoot the style of films our customers have got used to for the last 10 years. What they will be shooting will be a soft core version as we film the hard stuff so its just learning to get into the right positions not to be seen etc.
We will answer everyone who as e-mailed & thanks for getting in touch.
