Introduction and a few questions

Hello guys and girls

I've just registered and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Toby, I'm a 28 year old guy from Surrey. I'm an amateur photographer and video maker, and although I'm not opposed to the idea of appearing in professional adult videos myself, I'm not really built for it, but if anyone is looking for a short, fat bloke, you know where to find me :)

Anyway, let me explain why I'm here. I ran into an old girlfriend just before Christmas and wanted to show off my new camcorder. After a few drinks and as a bit of a joke I suggested we should make a naughty video and wouldn't you know it, she agreed. Well after that I was hooked. I loved the whole experience. Strangely it actually helped me feel a lot less self-conscious about my appearance. I don't think I'll be showing the video to any future girlfriends, but I loved being on film. I actually wanted other people to see it and I wanted to make more. I quickly realised though that there's no room for someone of my build in professional videos so I have an idea to make my own.

It doesn't end there though. What if I can make a little money from this I thought. How hard is it to make money from amateur porn videos? I'm a video editor by profession and quite handy with a video camera too. I can borrow a couple of Sony PD170s and some 800W Tungsten continuous lights (are they adequate) from work, so all I need is a venue and some models. If I can find a model that can accommodate, even better.

If I was to make a website that offered high quality videos and photos to subscribers how much content would I need?

I was planning initially on making gonzo videos with myself as the guy. I figure that as the girl will be the focus of attention, it won't matter too much if I'm a bit out of shape. I could sell the videos (but low quality versions) on somewhere like Adultwork to make a bit of extra cash. I could then hopefully afford to hire proper 'studs' to take my place and be more creative with the different styles of videos I could offer. Once I have enough content, I could move away from Adultwork and create my own site.

Currently I have a bit of a cash flow crisis, and can only afford to make one video (gonzo) per month, maybe two at a stretch. I'm hoping that I can get about 30-45 minutes of usable video from each shoot that I can split across 5 or 6 videos. If I can keep it up for a year I'll have around 70 clips and maybe a few hundred photos. I would hope that revenue generated from Adultwork could allow me to increase the number of videos I can make, but I'm not sure how profitable it can be.

Do you guys think I'm being too optimistic? I realise I'm jumping in at the deep end, but that's why I'm here asking for your help. One thing I am determined to do is make more videos (with myself in them). That much is certain. Now whether or not I can make any money from them is another matter. It may be that they're never made public, but instead remain in my private collection, but it would be nice to share them.

I would really like to have my own website and create my own videos on a regular basis, but I just don't know how feasible it is. I have done a fair amount of research into the industry but I can't really find any information for budding, young entrepreneurs. Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated. Maybe your advice will be to stick to my day job. That's fine. Maybe I am getting ideas above my station, but I'm just very enthusiastic about the idea right now.

One more question: what the devil does 'continental style' mean? I've figured out Fermat's last theorem, a solution to world hunger and even the meaning of life, but I can't for the life of me figure out what 'continental style' is.

I look forward to your enlightenment.

Regards

Toby

Yeah it is basically related to the food fetish side of the industry. Its specificially a 'micro-niche' AKA 'Breakfasting'
