I was wondering about this after reading the woodgnome's message below

How can you tell the difference between R18 and "pre liberalisation R18" without actually viewing it ???

Sounds like a charter for being ripped off

basically, you just have to know your stuff.

you're right to be wary though. some shops do have a habit of promoting the pre lib stuff as if it were h/c on special offer.

by the way, please don't call me 'the' woodgnome. there's more than one of us and being a proud race, the others will get the hump! ;-)

You can check the BBFC website - anything passed after last November (am I right, could be a bit earlier?) should be OK. If you are interested in particular movies, checking them on the BBFC site and seeing what cuts were made is helpful. Basically, anything new being released this year is now 100% HC so you should be OK. Lots of great stuff from Evil Angel seems to be being passed so check that out!

it's also worth checking the bbfc site for the length of a particular tape. i acquired 'british bunk ups' yesterday, for what seemed like the knock down price of ?12.95. it turned out to be half an hour in duration. not exactly a bargain then!

the law should be changed so that this information is compulsorily displayed on all vids. all we have to do is find an m.p. keen to promote punters rights!

shouldn't be too hard!
