Anyone use Vegas 7 or suggest another editing s/w

Hello all,
Is anyone currently using Vegas 7 for their HDV editing?, if so your opinions on it please.
I am considering purchasing it, but recently read it is not much of an improvement over Vegas 6, the price difference is pretty big though.
I have built a new PC and am looking to buy the software next week to start editing my work.
Appreciate your input before I part with the dosh.
