Why bother with Soho? The pirate vid shop just round the corner from Kings Cross station is always worth a visit. Always well stocked. Always a fine selection of UK stuff, some amateur. And competitively priced. And before people shout about 'Trading Standards' - don't worry - the bill and the council know all about it - their policy these days is laissez faire so long as nothing illegal is sold. Better things to do with their time.

That may apply in Islington but Maxims still gets raided regularly, please don't make the problem worse.

Yes, and I know a couple of other shops in Soho that say they are getting raided MORE often than they used to be. One of them no longer keeps any stock on the premises, as the cost of replacing confiscated tapes is so high.

Because it could be argued that since R18 they're now taking trade away from legitimate businesses? That's the sort of shit they always cook up as an excuse for porn raids (I never understood the vice squad's fascination with raiding regular hardcore until a mate with mates in the force "suggested" that maybe not all those tapes end up in the incinerator).

Hi,
Round the corner where exactly?

The takings from these places must be pure profit as 90% of the tapes are bootleg - maybe a reason in itself for them being hounded out of business you might argue (although I wouldn't). And judging from the number of punters in there the turnover must be high. So I guess that they can live with the occasional raid. The vicies are probably more interested in crack round Kings X anyway.
Sorry rambling off topic big style here (although a possibly more interesting debate might be the rights and wrongs of bootleg porn).

Heard some news about all the shops in Nottingham getting raided on the same day.Not groundbreaking news I know but someone there in trading standards must really be on a mission. Not content with taking all the stock, they went back a couple of hours later and raided them again!!!.So they know how quickly these outfits restock and carry on "business as usual".They also went back the next day just to make sure their mission was accomplished and these joints are effectively out of business.90% profit soon becomes a paltry amount for this much hassle and fines e.t.c.Will they continue.I am not sure.

He may have meant the one a little way up Caledonian Road (we're not supposed to name names, are we?)
Someone recommended it to me, and I have found it reliable, but I don't think there is much UK stuff.
