I am looking for some help. I am using frontpage and I have added some video/movies to my web site. They play OK in preview but not when I download them to my site and then view online. Anybody got any ideas why? It must be something really simple. gary@nakedbritain.co.uk

Make sure that the video file names are all lower case and are placed in the right loctions for your link to find.

But there are a number of problems it could be.

post the site address and I will check and tell you what's wrong.

When I view your source code on this page

http://www.nakedbritain.co.uk/Previews/ ... a_Comp.htm

it reads

this part looks wrong to me and may have the file the wrong name

./../../My%20Videos/Web%20Movie%20Preview/gemma_comp_trial.wmv.wmv

I need to know some more info before I can fix it, but it not difficult to sort

Thanks for your help. I think I might have sorted it now. I was trying to be a bit clever but its best to keep it simple. Cheers Gary

You have the video and the HTML Code pointing to your home PC not the hosted website. The other is that the file name should only end in one .wmv not two. FTP the video to the site then point the HTML code to the file.

You are better doing webdesign in either Macromedia Contibute as the is easier to cope with.

What's wrong with notepad?

Sorry - I'm only pulling paparazzi-scums leg, we all have to learn somewhere but I would agree that Frontpage is not the best software to use. Bluefish is great but it's only for Linux and Mac, obviously Dreamweaver and when I first started to learn code I used HotDog which is not bad at all, certainly better than Frontpage.

If cost is the issue then is pretty good too and best of all free.

How about a book?

This is a great one for starting to understand htlm,

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASI ... 75-1838034

It's cheap and it don't bog you down with useless information, it's right to the point.
