I don't think many people realise how many diverse skills are required of a webmaster. (I'm not making any claims for myself here!)
Even if you use FrontPage, Dreamweaver or whatever, you need to know enough about HTML, CSS PHP and Javascript to sort out problems.
You need to understand the directory structure of servers and a bit about UNIX. LINUX etc.
You need to know enough about graphic design to make things look attractive.
You need to know how to get traffic and search engine optimisation
You need to be honest if you are running a billing system for clients.
You need to know about hacking and DDOS attacks
You need to understand that no-one wants to pay you for any of this !wink!

Honest yes thats me. But i am so overloaded with work its untrue.
I can always offer advice or be a source if you need questions answering but other than that i am flat out mate sorry.
The one thing that really annoys me is people that do those damn home learning courses then consider themselves to be webdesigners. I spent 2 years at college, 3 years at uni and the rest of my time learning and developing knowledge....what gives these people the right to think they can do a 6month course and put themselves in the same league as professionals?
Rant over....sorry for that!

Not sure there were any courses when I started! There were 2.4k modems and bulletin boards.
