Questions for producers/website owners

Hi,

I'm the owner/webmaster of a paysite and I'm considering at some point in the near/medium future to comissioning my own content rather than buying non-exclusive.

As with most things the budget is rather limited and I'm the first person to admit that I'd be rubbish at directing/filming/photography etc.

I've seen lots of content suppliers offering to shoot exclusive content of your behalf though I'd be worried about the lack of control and communication with the provider.

Would people in theory be open to sharing content on a semi-exclsive basis, for exapmple I pay for the model and the other party take care of the location/production/shoot etc and then share the content 50/50. Is this a fair way of doing things?

Also an idea of the general ballpark costs involved would be a great help bearing in mind it would be low budget!

If you were sharing the content as you've suggested 50/50, then it would still be exclusive, not semi-exclusive.

Say the photographer shoots 6 stills sets and 2 vids and you split 50/50, then you'd get 3 photo sets and 1 vid that would be totally exclusive and so would the photographer. The only way it'd become semi-exclusive content would be if you both used all the material.

If your budget is low then I don't see the economics in proposing to do it this way, as you'll in effect be paying double for your content that you would to shoot it yourself, you'll still be paying the same model costs but getting half the content from the shoot. You'll also probably find it wouldn't work out any better financially than to just buy exclusive content.

I'm not trying to knock your proposal, it's a fair deal for both parties, I just don't personally see any real benefit for either side.

Hi Roy,

Thanks for your reply - yes I suppose that makes sense. What about though if the content was shared on a semi-exclusive basis, i.e. all sets available to both parties. Do people/would people work like this?

Matt...

A lot of content is produced on straight and equal content swaps.. Look through all the models who've posted here looking to do that :)

Also if you start shooting solo/toys, it isn't that expensive, specially if you don't need to hire a studio ...

Hi Matt

Producers barter with each other on content the same as most models do shared shoots, with the web being so big models don't always get the same customers so this works well.
Once people get to know you things will come together but it does take time, start on swingers sites as these people do this for fun so being paid is a bonus & less expensive than Pro models.
