Does anybody know where this pseudonym come from? Does it have a meaning in Italian slang or something?

I found it interesting because in Turkish slang, an approximate equivalent of 'Miss Pomodoro' is used for a girl who is ugly and yet pretends to be very beautiful.

Without a translation that's meaningless to me.
I'd always assumed it was because of her fondness for tomato-
shaped hair-grips.
