I really want to get my hands on some of the softcore stuff Showtime and Cinemax use to show in the 80s and 90s. Especially the French softcore with all the costumes and what not.

I prefer hardcore fucking but I like the nostalgic feel of the old softcore. Can anybody help me on this? Titles, actresses, studios, anything. Perhaps point me to some hardcore stuff dealing with this theme as well?

"The Naughty Victorians" (1975) aka "A Man With a Maid" is well worth looking for. It has a few minutes of hardcore activity but most of it might as well be simulated. Made in a basement in NYC though the performers all sport Brit accents worthy of a college drama production.

I don't know wether these films were really set in Victoria times, but it is a close call, if you weant costume dramas.

One of my favourite genres, night work.

But let's stretch it to general period pieces of the 18th-19th century, even some early 20th, and all over Europe, not just England:

- The Josefine Mutzenbacher films. Search elsewhere in this forum for a complete list (soft and hard) of this fine series. Hans Billian directed the best ones. Billian also made "Das Haus der geheimen L?ste" (aka Secret Passions), not a Mutzenbacher film, but in the same period style.

? "The Groove Room" (aka A Man with a Maid, Musf?llan/My Favorite Butler/Teenage Tickle Girls/Victorian Fantasies/What the Swedish Butler Saw). A 1975 Swedish-American softcore classic. Recently available on DVD. Essential.

- "Frank and I" (1984). Directed by G?rard Kiko?ne, produced by Harry Alan Towers. Some nice moments, if I recall right.

- The 70s Danish "zodiak sign" series has several entries that (more or less) fit in: "I l?vens tegn" (Leo), "I tyrens tegn" (Taurus), "I tvillingernes tegn" (Gemini). First-class stuff.

? "Rasputin - Orgien am Zarenhof", "Katharina und ihre wilden Hengste", "Katharina die Sadozarin". Early-80s German. Shouldn't be missed.

Those are from the top of my head, also the top of my list (there are some bad ones as well, but I can'r remember the titles).
What would you yourself recommend?

"The Groove Room" {and all those a|k|a's}: A three-D version was struck. It played on U.S.A.-subscription television channels in the mid-1980s [ON-TV, SelecTV, the "Z" Channel].

"Katherine and the Wild Stallions" [1983] is a superb movie. I have the hardcore version. If you reside in the U.S.A., this purveyor has both the soft and hard versions.
