Has European porn now lost the plot?

I believe that the adult industry in the US many years ago ceased to provide the type of film that a substantial number of the market wants. I have not bought an American film for several years. It now seems to me that the European mainstream scene is going down the same path. Many new films coming out seem to feature the same people who were appearing in them in the late 1990's. The stories are mainly bland often filmed in the same locations. I appreciate the situation may be different in the more extreme niche markets but those don't interest me. One only has to read this forum and note the number of requests for advice on how to obtain films from the 1970's to realise that there is a market for quality, explicit porn feature films. What do others think?

i think a lot of people would agree with you, David. porn's problem is that the people making it seem to know or care nothing about film-craft. that won't change until porn eventually fuses itself into mainstream entertainment.
the question is: what practical things can be done now to get better product?
one idea is to launch a campaign to demand higher quality product from distributers. it would require petitions, phone calls and newspaper articles about the effort.
people need to know that erotic films can be as breezy and fun as a mainstream romantic comedy.
