"Vibrations Sexuelles" {a|k|a "Vibrazione Sessuale"}[1976: France. Producer & Director: Jean Rollin. Run Time: 74']
Featuring: Brigitte LaHaie, Catherine Castel, Maude Carolle, Rachel Mhas, Emmanuelle Rivi?re
Alban Ceray

An NC-17 documentary in current release in the U.S.A. [from M.C.A. | Universal] examines the hoopla which dented the world of cinema in the U.S.A. in 1972, with the release of "Deep Throat". Some then-contemporary movie dignitaries are interviewed. Where the hard wave ebbed in the U.S.A. was with ?regular? directors being unwilling to incorporate explicit imagery in their movies.

This hard wave did not ebb in Europe, although it took longer for it to arrive there. Quite a few French ?A-? & ?B-? level movie directors took advantage of this ultimate barrier of cinematic depiction finally falling. This movie was lensed by fabled [for erotic vampire movies] director Jean Rollin. This one went out under the nom du porn ?Michel Gentil?. (For an overall view of J. Rollin's directorial oeuvre, visit here.) (J. Rollin is very unwell, but is attempting to lens one more movie, "La Nuit Transfiguree" ["Transfigurated Nights"].)

"Vibrations Sexuelles" is a vignette feature. Alban Ceray carries all the male action. We begin with a lesbian scene in which Maude Carolle and Emmanuelle Rivi?re are enjoying one another. Then we espy A. Ceray in the estate's swimming pool peeping on them. Soon he emerges from the pool and moves upon Maude. This is a very romantic scene with much of J. Rollin's technique highly visible. It borders on artsy-fartsy, but does not cross.

It so happens that this is a story A. Ceray is telling to his psychiatrist, who is Brigitte LaHaie [a brunette in this movie, which helps to date it]. His problem is that he is seldom erotically aroused. A. Ceray relates a few more tales, which we view. Whether they are actually fantasies, truths, or fables designed to intrigue Brigitte is not unveiled. {My copy of this is under this a|k|a; dubbed in Italian.}

Whatever is the instance, Brigitte falls for A. Ceray. There is an impressive wedding scene, followed by some startling cinematography afterward along the banks of the Seine River. In summary; this is another movie of which I have no idea why it was not exported to North America in the time of its release.
