"Aus dem Tagebuch" info

I recently received my copies (parts 1 & 2) of Billian's autobiography, "Der Filmemacher". It?s loaded with interesting information. Like this bit on "Aus dem Tagebuch" (translation is by no means perfect, but I think I?ve captured the essence of the events):
"Again, we had to conduct a hectic search for the right leading lady (-). I finally decided on a girl from Northern Germany, since she was the best-looking one available. But, as shooting drew closer, I gradually realised that this woman just didn't radiate that certain Viennese something that the part required.
As bad luck would have it, two days before shooting was about to start, we found this photogenic, vivacious, mischievous Munich girl - who just had it all, the ideal Josefine! But the other one was ready to start, fully committed to the film. We would have to buy her out of the film, something my producer told me he had no intention of doing.
However, I did not intend to let go of the outstanding eye catcher I just had found. During a nocturnal brainstorming marathon, I managed to introduce a new character for her: Uschi, Josefine's most devoted colleague. During shooting she was a constant delight of us all, and producer Brummer regretted that he had denied my recasting suggestion. He tried to correct this bad decision a bit, in that he, instead of the real Mutzenbacher, presented Uschi on the posters. The audience was misguided, no doubt about that. But perhaps this piquant, full bosomed feast for the eyes managed to draw even a few more people into the cinemas...?
(alas, Billan never tells us the name of ?Uschi?.)
Jane Iwanoff, too, was a last minute Josefine in ?Die Beichte der J.M.?. The intended J.M. - referred to as ?Marianne? - got cold feet. ?Marianne? appears in ?Das Haus der geheimen L?ste?, as the maid.
