Can anyone identify the exquisitely attractive busty blonde who played the part of Uschi in the 1980's Hans Billian classic, 'Aus dem Tagbuch der Josefine Mutzenbacher'? It may have been Melitta Berger but that is not clear from the cast list. Billian seemed to be able to find perfect actresses for roles, which were sexually demanding, yet they did not appear in anyone elses films. Does anyone know how he found them given the fact that they were often better than established porn actresses?

Sorry, cannot help with the identification.

Regarding your question how he found them, it was simply by advertising (he mentions that in an interview).

However, in the old days there simply were no "established porn actresses", that was only legalised in Germany in 1975, and originally these films were shown in sex cinemas (video only impacted in the 1980s).
As a result, fewer films were made, on a bigger budget, with more careful casting. There were also a few actresses who crossed over from softporn and had some acting experience.

Thank you for that beutelwolf. I did know that the films were made for sex cinemas and they did not start showing hardcore until the mid seventies. However your information concerning the advertising is most interesting. I started visiting Germany in 1983 and these sex cinemas were still going then. I originally saw Aus dem Tagebuch der Josefine Mutzenbacher in one. Fortunately I now have a copy on video. I remember they couldn't charge you to see the hc films, so you had to buy two bottles of beer. Incidentally do you know if Billian is still alive. He was born in Breslau (now Wroclaw) in 1918 so he is getting on if he has not shuffled off his mortal coil.

I think Billian is still alive, I probably would have heard of his demise.

At least he was alive in the mid 90's when he did the "Familie Immerscharf" Films.
Around 1995/96 I saw a long report (30 min) about Billian in a TV-Show on VOX or RTL2.
