Being touted by many as next Labour leader. At least the tories want be able to point finger at him as being one of the metropolitan elite.

One tough mother, apparently decked a chap on the underground who tried to mug him, not knowing he was ex-forces.
He's MP for the next ward over from me, bit of a posh soldier background, but at least has lived in he real world, unlike the career millionaire socialists labour tend to pick.
They'll need a 'David Moyes' type anyway, someone disposable for the next defeat to Boris, before a genuine contender is installed.

Nope. Dan grew up in Nottingham and attended the Rushcliffe Comprehensive School. He studied international politics at Aberystwyth University, hardly one of the leading educational establishments

pretty impressive bloke it has to be said, try to pick flaws out of that, and certainly not from a posh background. If Labour don't go with him it'll be the biggest mistake they make.

Have to agree. Cooper or Burnham (who everyone seems to be talking about as the front runner) would be a disaster as they are dead wood from the past and too closely associated not just with Miliband's disastrous tenure but also with the Blair/Brown era.
Whatever they do they need a complete clear-out and have to reinvent themselves if they are to stand any sort of chance next time round.

Just announced he wont be running fo the leadership. Shame , he was probably Labour's best hope.

Don't you think the party should be lead by someone who has much experience of being a parliamentarian rather than someone who only got elected four years ago?
Miliband was only an MP for five years before he became leader. That didn't work out too well.
