Football Rich List

Madrid, Barca, Manure, Bayern......and in 18th place Newcastle. Err how? Last won a domestic trophy in 1955. Yes that is 60 seasons ago. My Toon loving colleagues were getting quite annoyed when the sixty years was mentioned. They argued about the Keegan glory years...when they won precisely sweet FA in the top tier. What about the pre Wor Kev years when they struggled to get 15k in an absolute dump of a stadium? I predict their new shirt sponsor for 15-16 season will be Whitbread (no trophy and bitter).

It was mentioned the other day that Stoke are ranked in 30th place. Who'd have thought it?

They have a massively loyal fanbase with a stadium that is routinely filled that happens be only smaller than Wembley, Man Utd, Arsenal and, when they move, West Ham.
And they have won trophies since 1955, you just don't rate them.

Their last "major" trophy win was the Inter Cities fairs Cup (predecessor of the UEFA Cup) in 1969.
They also won the "Anglo-Italian Cup" in 1973, plus (more recently) a couple of pre-season Mickey Mouse tournaments.
Other than that, bugger-all for 60 years.

No true. You somehow overlooked their Inter Toto Cup triumph in 2006.

Winning the championship in 2010 also yields a trophy as well.

Winning a trophy most teams went out of there way to avoid playing in is hardly an achievement, though.

Yes it does, well spotted.
