Apparently Balls argued in January that stopping non-dom status would probably cost the UK money as a result of non-doms leaving.

Not the finest moment for Labour!

Apparently the Tory Election Dirty Tricks Dept had been in full swing.

Apparently the video clip that showed Balls saying that they would leave non-doms largely alone, was edited by the Tories and missed out "I think we can be tougher and we should be and we will" with regard to non-doms

And in the article the author specifically states
"The Tories moved to unpick the announcement by the Labour leader by releasing a video of a BBC interview back in January in which the shadow chancellor said that abolishing non-dom status might lead to a fall in tax revenue.

But the Tories edited out a crucial final sentence in which Balls told BBC Radio Leeds on 9 January: ?But I think we can be tougher and we should be and we will.?

So if it is not true then we can look forward to the Tories suing the Guardian and all the other press that reported this story. Apparently the video was released as part of the Tories twitter feed. It was tweeted by Grant Shapps that well known purveyor of get rich schemes on the Internet.

So he is still selling snake oil
